I've heard so many experienced and skilled or even just damn perseverant modders here cry out against the throngs of noobs, spammers and generally, the forum bugs in general that populate the forums as consumers, and not providers. Could we not seperate the forums, or add a section that is strictly for the serious, working modders here. The experts, the mature, the workers. The good people of the forums. It is becoming more and more of a task to scroll though pointless posts and signatures to check forum updates on your posts, and work. The level of ignorance and general poor composition drains interest and patience. We could, at least, work some diplomatic system for this... although some would much prefer to simply 'boot the lamers'. |

I understand your point ... ... but who judges which one will be in the experienced and skilled group and who will be not! That's the problem! The find out quality of quantity is and was always a problem. I don't think special forums for experts will change that. About spammers, noobs -> therefore forum policy exists -> they could establish a systems which kicks them out fast! |

Even if you could have such you could not keep the 'noobs' out, Chances are some who are so amazed that they were capable of making a TD would begin to post there with regards that 'They are the greatest triggerer!' So soon enough it would become a breeding ground for arrogant fools. |

Plus, if noobs aren't around people who are experienced they won't be exposed to good work and they will never get better. (Thats also a step towards racism against noob). |

Heh, I mentioned noob once, and try to use the word lamer in preference, but everyone goes off on a tangeant. My suggestion is for serious and working members. Noobs can be both of them. |

You could make a section that could be for people called veterans, have been here long, or they could be let in becuase they contribute alot to modding, I may not be a great skinner / modler / modder, but I have never been request for a project, I can terrain pretty well, I ahve alittle bit of knowledge and I would love to concept art for any project, so I can see where you are comming form. Enough about me, I say we make the public fourms and the veteran fourms where n00bs can browse through but not post or make new threads, this creates an environment where people who are inexperineced can learn about modding, but cannot spam the fourms. If we were to split it up it would be obvious that we would have to keep all the existing fourms now, but add a new fourms called something like the veterans fourm. -Peace ez |

I know you wanted to get other people's opinions, but one thread of this in staff discussion is fine. We aren't gonna seperate the "newbies" from the "experts" or "lamers" from the "1337 people". People need help and you can't get mad at them for being new and/or not as smart as you. The goal is to build a good modding community and help eachother out to make some kick-*** stuff. Remember, everyone was new to this at one point, even the people that modded StarCraft etc. As for the people that supposedly aren't worthy to be in certain groups, I disagree and feel that everyone should help eachother out, even if you disagree on topics such as religion, race, ethics, etc. - Draco |
