Using 3ds Max 6 for WC3

Is this possible? The Art tools only work for 4 & 5, and I am unable to find any information on this. :nono: I already know how to model, but how would I convert it to mdx/mdl/ whatever the WC3 model extension is?

Just so you know, I dont know to model very good at, but Id still like to get my test model working.

you answered yourself already: Art tools will only work with 4 and 5 and will not work with 6

Yes, but is there any other way to convert the files? B/c if there isnt, Blizzard was rather narrow mindedc in releasing Art Tools for only version 4 & 5, shen the newest version is 6...

if you mean save and import them in previous versions, then yes it will work (although conversions usually comes with problems, because max 6 is different built then 5).

If you read what blizzard said they released the tools on demand/request by the modders. They released the SAME tools they used 5 years ago to develop wc3. They did NOT create new tools to suit the needs of the current user. I doubt max 6 was existing 5 years ago when wc3 was being developed. The reason why max 5 works is that it is based on max 4 (max 6 is different built)

Blizzard will NOT put extra time and resources into a art tool package that works for latter versions as they dont have the license for that (max 6 then) and they are busy with other projects.

yeah.. i also have some errors of compatibilities when i launch 3dsmax6! :bgrun: too bad Blizzard will not work on the art tools for the future versions of 3ds max! :(

Where would I find this? The only thing it is difficult to fing 3DSMax 4-5. Everything now is 6 :nono: . Ill dig around and see if a site has an old trial version.

best buy carries discreet's line of software, (including 3ds max) so does cosco, frys electronics and a few others... I'm getting max4 from fries....

0_o OMG 0_o !!!!! i wish i had read this thread earlier!emote_sweat i wanted these tool to test em out and they didnt work! so i guess i wont be able to get the WC3 art tools..... cuz i need 3DsMax 4 or 5 and i just got 6 so i could make my own models.......BUT 6 DOENT WORK WITH EM! ooo I must help out u noobies... but dont owrry i wont make fun of u guys...

KmK can export models you have edited and works for 6. If u want a Exporter for 3ds6, go to tools forum and find Model exporter. Its VERY OLD. you must find it in tools forum

6 isnt that bad. But 5 is the best out of 4, 5 and 6...

And 6 includes textportaer which 4 doesnt...
Ya basicly 6 kinda sux for warcraft

Use the DeX. I dont think you need to use the dope sheet for it.
