If you havent read: http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/s...threadid=40884 read that.

1.13 will install a new securom on your computer, with this new securom it completely disables use of any emulation program for now. Meaning if you dont use the actual cd (whether you have or not) you wont be able to play. For some this isnt a problem, but if you are like me, and have 100+ cd's, you keep em on your harddrive for easy swapping and remove the risk of scratching cd's.

1.13 is very picky, securom will eat you alive, becareful.

As I've said in other posts, I'm outraged at this. You can't delete the files, you can't delete the registry keys, Blizzard deletes the threads about it on the Battle.Net forums and doesn't respond, it was added without permission, and uses random names to hide itself. Blizzard is going down!!!

STICKIED

I didn't try deleting it but alot of people said you can't... yet somehow i deleted it by accident... i right clicked on it and tried to do all these: Read-Only, Hidden, then I clicked Advanced and unchecked the top 2 boxes that are checked off, and checked the bottom one 'compress contents to save disk space'... then i got an error saying it couldnt do something so I hit cancel, then it was gone...

EDIT: OOPS... I only made it hidden and forgot to turn view hidden stuff on LOL... Don't call me an idiot lol...

Edit 2: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...cument&src=_mi tells how to allow you to delete it, edit it, etc...

Edit 3: It says delete all the files in the temp folder?? ... Uhh... That's not entirely possible...

Yeah I used to post at Don's forums, way back when. Amazed you remember me.

Be sure to read as much of: http://www.battle.net/forums/war3/th...448#post635764 as you can (At the time of me posting this (448 replies, 24222 views on that thread, in a day) There are some good points to it, but not 1 bliz response. Why is that I wonder.

EDIT: Ah the times with rm2k.

I just thought you all should know that this is basically a virtual device driver that is supposed to detect things like D-tools and other software that allow you to run your game other than with the CD.

Unfortunantly, I don't think Blizzard planed on having problems liek this. An official Blizzard representative said that this problem would be fixed "as soon as possible", so let's hope it is.

Last time "as soon as possible" was said, it took months.

From what I can tell, this may or may not be the cause of the problems... all I know is SOMETHING about the 1.13 patch is causing problems on different people's computers. This thing is being blown out of proportion, though it does deserve some sort of attention by blizzard... if it was something that was being misunderstood, why doesn't a blizzard rep just come and explain to everyone in simple terms, exactly why people's computers have been experiencing problems, and exactly why they neglected to tell people about it in the update notes. Frankly, this patch deserves some explanation, and for some reason beyond my comprehension, blizzard isn't giving any.

This whole issue allows me to think lower of blizzard as a company and of their customer support services. Why don't they just stop the whole issue by explaining the situation!?

Exactly. Even if it was an accident, their mistake is going to cause problems for my computer for god-knows how long.
If they said something about this in the Installation, I would never have got 1.13

Things to note:
When blizzard uses units of time they speak like "soon, a couple of weeks, augustish, Christmas 96"
Which translate to:
"Soon-5 months" (after 1.12 was released to fix the balance problems this was the unit used"
"A couple of weeks-8 weeks (A statement given by gfraiser on the release date of 1.13)
"Augustish" (the date at which testing of WoW was supposed to start as I recieved from a blizzard representive when I was talking about requiring a NDA to play the beta, (I'm a blizzard buddy i'm auto in)
"Christmas 96"-who can forget this one. Starcraft's Release date. Just two years off...

However, as I've been talking to a blizzard support individual via e-mail who suggested to me to just uninstall war3x delete the file, and wait until 1.13b which should be within a week. I was shocked this is the first time they've used a unit of time I could understand.

I'm with blizzard on not letting you play it without the CD.

This is NOT an outrage.

An outrage is screwing up on the balencing...

An outrage is making it so that you can't play with a legal copy.

If you can't be bothered to put in your CD, well tough. Blizzard is facing heavy loses, so they need more sales. People stealing it is NOT good!

In fact this securom thing is only screwing people with legit copies that use daemon tools to avoid harming their CDs (that damned thing costs 30 $us I won't touch it after installing it) , Illegal copies users can download a crack and keep using tft.

I don't see what part you don't understand about: It's illegal to install something on to someones system if they don't want it there. Small part of why viruses are illegal.
