i need to know a way to make triggered spells to give exp. Because i could give the hero a fixed amount but that sucks cus my map will have units and heros of different levels. if anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated |

If you use the set life of unit to life of unit - x, you can do this: If life of same unit <= 0, then do (Multiple actions) set life of same unit to 1, order TriggerExpGiverUnit[player number of owner of triggering unit(if it's a spell) to attack same unit. At map init create a unit for each player that does 99999 damage, has 99999 range, has 0 cooldown, has 999999 projectile speed, and has 0 acquisition range. Hide it and set it to a variable with an index number of the player number of its owner. Basically, if a unit "dies" from a set life trigger, it's set back at 1 life and an invisible unit owned by the owner of the spellcaster will attack it, effectively killing it for real. I think that works, at least. I dont use set life to - actions because it's more practical to just use a dummy unit to cast stormbolt or something for the damage. |

hmm, that may work but i give up on triggered spells. their too coplicated. |

You can't do much of anything as far as making new spells or adjusting gameplay whatsoever without triggers. Find out what the experience equation Blizzard uses is (based on the dying unit's level, if I'm not mistaken) and recreate it using triggers. Then increase the hero's exp by that amount. |

yeah, but with triggered spells you have to do everything. Lol, i made a spell called choke, which is based of mana burn. It plays the orb of souls effect on the unit and damages 65 hp a sec for 3 seconds, although for some reason it keeps going untill the unit dies?!@ the trigger lists set units health to its health - 65 wait 0.65 secs set units health to its health - 65 wait 0.65 secs set units health to its health - 65 and then it unpauses them, but it keeps going untill the enemy dies! |
