Heroes with the ability to build. HOWTO?

Okay, I want to create a unit with a few spells and the ability to build structures. I also want this unit to be considered a hero, with levels and all that.

I went for the obvious way and created a custom unit based off a hero and gave it the "Build ( Undead )" skill in the object editor. It wouldn't let me put it under "Abilities - Hero" so I had to use "Abilities - Normal". In game the build structure button isn't displayed and I can't adjust the available building in the techtree section for that hero, too.

Can you help?

Check to see if there's a hero ability taking up the build ability's slot in the Command Card. I think it's at 0,2 but I could be wrong.

AFAIK the build menu uses the same menu as the hero skill learning so you can't do that easily.

Hn. Thanks for the quick reply. I found a workaround for the problem, but I don't know if it's a good idea. What I did was give the Hero an item ability based of 'build tiny farm'. It has the nice side-effect that I can give a cooldown on that and make it cost mana instead of resources, which is what I wanted it to do anyway. Do I have to expect problems with the ability being based off an item?

Now, ingame I get the tooltip missing error, but there's no field in the object editor of that item ability which would let me set a tooltip. Another problem would be that you can only build one type of structure with that. :(

You could make a spellbook ability, but I think all of the Build Tiny abilities have the same root, so they probably won't work together anyway.

As far as the tooltip is concerned, if you find the field on a different ability where the tooltip is, and then switch to your Build Tiny ability, it will still have the appopriate field selected. Change that, and it should fix your tooltip missing problem.
