Multiple tiles for only 1 tile count!

I just came up with this idea, you could have a lot of tiles and and only use 1 tile count in the 'modify tileset'. Basically, extract any tile from the MPQ, lets say Ashenvale leaves. Get lots of different seamless tiles, make sure they are the same size as warcrafts different tiles, and paste. Convert it to BLP and all that, then open up WE and import them and add Ashenvale leaves to your tileset. Now uncheck 'use variations' and then just find the tile you need and use it. Problem with this is that there will be only one tile for each.

Zephirs world editor allowed for this sort of thing as well as multiple cliff tiles. Best of all after you picked it you didnt need to keep using zephirs you could open it in umswe.

Yeah you can do this, but it is hectic and it doesn't look very professional if its the same grass tile repeating all over your map. I thought about this before, and I didn't like the idea. But what you can do (working with this idea) is take a tileset that has only 1 "tile point" if you know what I mean (some have 2, some have 1, can't think of the word for it, but it adds up to the total of 13) Take 2 1's and put them together into 1 tileset, and use zepir's editor, effectively you can have 2 tilesets in 1, with 1 4 character code for it. I haven't tried this, it's all theory, but it seems like it could work.

You will also have to use the texture variation off, but you can select different tiles out of each one.

Not professional? DId you know that the grassy dirt only has 2 variations, and those looks beautiful, one of my favourite tiles. I could never get Zepirs to work, it always screwed up when I tryed to save it in UMSWE after I edited a map in Zepirs.

I think the part you guys are missing is that they'll be chunky square blocks and look ugly as sin. The reason there's so many spaces on each tileset is not simply because of the variations, but because of the edge tiles when they overlap. Unless you plan on having the tile *always* overlapped by another tile, it won't really look too pretty. It's a nice try, but I think I can live with 16 different tiles. Also BladeBezerker, I believe that PitzerMike's modifed WE can allow you to set up 16 tiles like Zepir's, but only when you create the map. It won't work on a pre-existing one.
