Since I'm a crappy musician, but still I want to make the music myself for the map I'm making, I digged up music 2000 from my garbage can. Here's a song I made for a town, with a cold wintery feeling:

Hmmm...
That bass beat is evil, it is dominating the track while I feel it should be on the background.
The basic percussion is not bad, but it has the synth feel to it, that is not very great in WC3.

It is a nice first try.

yeah, i guess the drumlines are a little too dominating, but it's just that the percussion line is not that interesting, so it needed a little help. I'm not going to change the track much, I'm pretty content with it as a background beat.

A percussion line can't be interesting?
Dewd I beg to differ! :)
Percussion is my personal favorite to work with, and if your using synth percussion like you, you really got everything open to ya.
Ever heard of Kevin Riepl? He is the composer for games like Unreal Tournament 2003, Unreal Tournament 2004, The Dark Conjunction, New Legends, and more. The point is he uses synth percussion to a stunning degree. Here I linked some of his work, now that is a percussion layer.

Percussion doesn't HAVE to be interesting, it can be, but it doesn't HAVE to.
Don't force it to be interesting by adding a beat that won't fit. :)
