Cliff Cave's and Pathing

When you make terrain deformations and there are destructibles (like trees) in the area, they don't raise with the terrain, they sit there and the terrain covers it up. This is the effect I want for a Cliff Cave, so that when X occurs, the terrain lowers and the cliff cave is revealed. Trouble is the cliff caves are kind of like Terrain, so when the elevation thing happens, the cave goes up with it. I've tried to remove the pathing texture, and I can't even PLACE the doodad then. I've tried giving it another pathing texture, don't even want to talk about those results. Then I tried to make a new Destructible tree with the Cliff Cave model, but it had a white texture.

Is this possible or what?

Perhaps you could try making a destructable using the cliff model you want instead of using the doodad version. The game seems to treat the two in very different ways.

Here's a broader question then:

What determines whether or not a placeable will be left at it's height, or taken with a terrain deformation.

I tried with a Column Broken, and a Crypt. The Crypt stays, the Column Brokens go with the terrain. They are both in the Doodads sections, the column broken uses the same pathing texture as the ashenvale tree so the pathing texture can't possibly be what determines it. Is it the category the Doodad is in?

Blizzard stated for preformance issues they made almost all doodads stay in one spot so when deformations occur they do not more. One ez way to get around this is have a loop create and destroy the same doodads every second until deformation is done. That way they move with the terrian. Also you could just destroy them and recreate them when done to save power.

No no, I want them to stand still! They are moving, this is bad! I want to know if there is a value in the editor that determines whether or not they will move or not, so that I can make the ones I want NOT move with a terrain deformation.

is it really that hard to base it off a tree? or something that doesn't move? Have you tried that yet?

I think your getting the white texture because you unchecked "has tileset specific data". Just a thought

Sorry for not responding earlier this damn site went down when i wanted to respond. Anyways i think its the Field.

Editor - Placeable On Cliffs

That lets it either move with deformations or not.i think false makes it stay.
