Find some good tutorials. Use google searches, visit sites like Polycount, CG Talk etc and find/use lots of references (Pictures that relate to what you're making) before you jump in without knowing anything. All these will help you get on your way. I suggest reading up some tutorials by Paul Steed. Get lots of criticism of your work too, just keep open minded and keep in mind that making mistakes will help you improve your skills. Study the objects you're going to model as well, if you're going to make a human that looks like a human, try studying anatomy or proportions of human bodies. Finally, practice practice practice! There is no easy path in anything, and this applies to 3d. If you wish to get good at 3d modelling, make sure you have the time and patience to learn the proper skills. This isn't something you can pick up overnight. |

Well I'm not exactly new to graphic work, but I'll take you up on your advice. As far as tutorials go... read like 50 so far :P |
