I have made a blood mage skin and i am trying to edit the energy balls floating over his head. I succesfully made them blue, but the green infernal fire effect is still there. How do i edit that? |

maybe you must edit the mdx of the bloodmage |

The color of the balls is not in the .mdx file, it's in a seperate .blp file. What you need to do is (I thinbk) extract the .mdx file for the green sphere )it may be the blood mage itself, but I doubt it), convert it to .mdl, then go in and find the partcile emmiter that has the fire effect... then you need to change the color to the color you want, but instead of a scale from 0-255, its 0 to 1 (so just divivde the hue of the colors by 255 to get the fraction of it). Then reconvert it back to .mdx and impliment into the map under the same model file.. that should work. If you need more help with .mdl editing, there's a tutorial in the modelling section about it. Hope that helps! (and if you really did edit the .mdx file, than I just made a fooll out of myself again :( ) |

Well there is a mdx file called bloodmagebalz or something and i converted that into tga's and edited, and converted to blp to import into my map. I will try getting into the mdl file of the bloodmage like you said, though i think the balls may have their own mdl file. Thanks for the help. And yes, you can change the color of the balls in the mdx file, just not the fire effect. |

Umm... you're confusing skinning and .mdl editing. You CANNOT open .mdx files and skin them... skins are 2D files, .mdx files are 3D models, and .mdls are text versions of .mdx's. You cannot edit the color of the balls in .mdx or .mdl files, but you can edit the fire effect. Just to clarify: Skinning: .blp files, can be converted into .tga (ect), and can be editted with any paint program Modelling: .mdx files, can be converted into .mdl files to be editted in Notepad, core .mdx file can only be edited in modelling programs like 3DMax & Lightwave. In order to edit the fire colors, you need to convert the .mdx of the bloodelfballz into .mdl, and then go into notepad and fiel the right section to edit, ect. |

no, im not confused. You can open a mdx and extract every file in it as a tga. |

u stupidheads, its a human ability called "bloodelf balls" or whatever... its a passive ability for BM that doesnt show, or w/e. Edit the look (ya know like missile animation or w/e) then itll work. sheesh. |

mpq Are The File Archieves That Have All Skins And Models Etc IN It. blp is Blizzard Format picture you can convert them into tga to work on skins. Mdx Are BLizzard Models That Can Be Converted Into MDL And Then The Color Emitters Can Be Changed(aka the ugly green infernal fire). There Is A Tutorial On This Site I Belive on changing the emitters. The Model Are Looking For Is In Units/Human/BloodElf_Hero/bloodelfball.mdx. Some People Don't Have A Clue. |

Okay, yes... I was really confused when he said he could extract things from an .mdx file... he was thinking .mpq fiels. And yes, some people have no clue ://// Hehehe BTW, Please Don't Capitalize Every Other Word It Gets Quite Annoying :p And kuramaRoze, he doesn't want the missile animation different... he just wants the flame effect to be blue. And it's called Sphere, not BloodElfBallz. |

ok, i managed to do it, here is the result. I still cant get the blockly black stuff to go away. and no, it is NOT an ability. |

Kewl newts, looks good. The black blocky stuff in there would be something messed up in the alpha channels, i think... you may want to try copying the alpha channel from the original skin and pasting it onto the alpha channel on your skin to see if that makes a difference. And actually, it is an ability... the Human ability Sphere. The only thing you can edit, however, is the model used and where the model appears... in the case of hte Blood Mage, it's Sprites 1, 2, and 3 8)) Take away that ability from the Blood Mage, and the spheres dissappear. Umm... interesting skin. Some of the colors seem to clash though... especially reds & oranges, as well as some of the yellows on the hair. It'd keep it to mostly your three basic colors--blues, whites, and blacks... purple and green do seem to fit okay, though. Just not "warm colors" like reds and oranges. |

The skins not really done yet, and the hair was just done with a rainbow tool. It will definitely improve, if u want to see it i will post it here. |
