u downloaded a model or a campaign? well, if u downloaded a model, do the following: (this is wat i do anyways)

1) make a folder in ur Warcraft III foler (located in ur program files), titled Units

2) If u downloaded a model, there shuld be a readme, telling u what path u need to put the file into.

for example:

i downloaded the mitsurugi model and skin. the readme told me to put it in a file that goes "Units\Other\Mitsurugi\Mitsurugi (.blp, .mdx) yadda

this means that in my Units folder, I make another folder titled Other, and inside that, I make another folder titled Mitsurugi, and INSIDE that folder, i put the files in there.

so whenever i want to import my files in a map, i navigate (in the import manager) to that file, and choose all of the files. Then, on the import manager screen, i change their pathnames to the following:

Units\Other\Mitsurugi\Mitsurugi.mdx
Units\Other\Mitsurugi\Mitsurugi.blp
Units\Other\Mitsurugi\Mitsurugi_Portrait.mdx

then, i save my map and exit out of WE, and then restart it agin. this should work, but tell me if u still hav problems.

Arriba!
If it just came as a w3n file stick it in your campaigns folder, select single player, custom campaign and off you go... most TFT campaigns should work like this - no hassle, no problems.
