blp icons

well.......
first off, .TGA's take up alot of space for a warcraft3 map, and i put quite alot of them into my game, cuz i didnt know how to convert em and stuff...
when i imported them with the import editor in TFT(icons are still .tga), i didnt put a custom path name, i just left it at "wc3imported/iconname.tga" and it worked fine... i could use it without any problems except for the big memory it took up...
then i learned about .blp's and that they reduce the size of the image, and this is just currently... 12/23/03, when i imported my new .blp icons, i thought that "wc3imported/iconname.blp" would do the same thing, but.... i saved, restarted UMSWE, and tried to re-path the custom icons to my upgrades and it crashed the game...
do i have to change the custom path now that it's a .blp?:bgrun: if so, what path do i change it too?
(i know im a total noob at some areas, like variables(somewhat) and triggers but what would you expect from someone whos 13?)

Most possible answer:
Don't use UMSWE... There's a new patch, remember? You shouldn't be using UMSWE. Ever... Not until there's a new one out.

In answer to the original topic and not going offtopic like those people ^

Yes there is a custom path you have to do.

For your normal/passive/auto cast one you do this for your custom path

ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNyouricon.blp

For the disabled version

ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDISABLED\DISBTNyouricon.blp

hope that answers ur prob

i tried that path for my .blp icons... and when i pathed the upgrade with my custom icon, it crashes the program with a continuing loop to which i need to restart my computer (oO')

I know what the problem is... read this
http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=41731

now i have to redo every single new icon, that includes upgrades, units, and loading screen, doesnt sound like much but its a heavy load, bout 30 very tedious pics, which is boring

Im a noob at Mapping but if im Correct, the Blp hasve to be 32Bit or whatever it is. I originally saved mine as 16 didnt work and i read they have to be 32. And mine all Work fine.

Did you make sure you aren't using any compression when saving the files?

Shadow_Strike
i think i would know if i used a compression or not because i dont know what the hell a compression is, i use warcraft3 viewer and i dont think that has anything that says anything about compressions....... im just pissed off so dont take anything personally...

If you are using PSP, when you save as, there is an options button that you can click. Make sure no compression is going on there, but fine. I've never had a skin not work, so you've gotta be doin sumthin wrong.

But watever, closed. (per request)
