add alpha to photoshop??

I'm making a skin based on the paladin and i want to alpha out his hamer but it dosent have an aplha can someone tell me how i can add an alpha chanel to his weapon??

i can only help you if you tell me what version of Photoshop you are using... if you are using 7.xx then all you do is first make sure that you are using the .tga skin and not the.bmp. If you are then convert it. Once you are using the .tga skin make sure the layer you want alphaed out is the bottom layer or it won't work. Then use eraser to alpha the parts out. This will work on the hammer cause i did it but beware that YOU CAN NOT ALPHA OUT TEAM COLORED PARTS USING SKIN EDITING.(At least i think you can't. To remove team color you gotta mdl/maybe mdx edit.)

Here it is in a nut shell. If you have photoshop 7.00 upgrade to 7.01 to get alpha channels working if you have any other version besides 7.00. make sure your working as tga, not bmp or jpeg. YO Do ALpha Where Layers Tab Click Channels Then Click Alpha One And Then Whait Is Tranparent Or Team Color depending on where it is, Black Is Not.

IT worked thx thx thx :) im with photoshop 6.0 btw gues there's not much difrent between 7 and 6 :p
