Hey, im new to modelling but anyway, i've been trying to make a trooper for a map i am making from the Terran Marine model, yet when i try it ingame it dont work, the model is all over the shopfloor. Im using this tutorial to edit my models; http://race.wc3campaigns.com/tutorial.htm Anyway when i CnP the vertices over from my model to another (Part 2 of the tut) it says there are 654 vertices in my model yet only 336 in the Marine model, but i havent deleted anything, only resized and moved vertices. Anyway heres a picture. I really hope somebody can help me with this! Thanks in advance. |

Did you use the "static" import options with no bone rotation when importing. For me it looks that you imported the model with animation and bone rotation then the export will not work in a correct way! |

I didnt use bone rotation and static was selected when i did the the model so it cant be that, thanks for replying anyway :D |

My next idea would be that you made a mistake by copying the vertics - once I wrecked my model edit by pasting the wrong section into the wrong section of the old model - else I really don't know what could be the problem. Perhaps Xaran the Model Edit Master could help you! |

ok well i sorted it now (totally redid it from scratch :nono:) But anyway it works, many thanks to you for helping me thou, sadly a new problem has arisen, once i've edited my model and saved it and convert it to mdl then to mdx again when i try it ingame it is fine except for one thing, the team-colour areas i've modified go back to their original shapes and this is really annoying me, how can i make them stay the size i want? Plus the lights on the marine are still there even when i've made them tiny??? Bah *slaps himself* too many noobish questions, sorry bout this :D |

ok i got a picture of what i meant above, the shoulderpads, lowerleg armor and forearm armor stay the exact same size when i import my model into the map, it should be like the model up at the top on the right-hand side. Really hope somebody can help i really, really need to get this done emote_confused |

I can only guess an answer here. Perhaps the problem lies in the exporter. About the lights - as far as I know - it is the exporter ... About questions - always ask - in a helpfull community you will always find somebody who tries to help you! Second you can only learn by questioning and getting answers. |

no way to fix it then? If i use the KMK's imp/exp script it works but i get the large pads and lights, if i use the art tools it ends up like the top one, rofl, looks like im screwed with this :) U've been a huge help bolthan, want... 76 points if u collect them? lol, its all i can offer. Thanks again, and if anybody might know how to fix this i cud really use it. (Credits in map of course) |

I am sorry that I can't help your further as I don't know them. I only made small changes with max. I never changed team color fields and lightning. Perhaps you will find something when you use the forum search engine: Forum - Search Keep your points perhaps you will need them someday for purchasing something you like! I did use the search earlier but it turned up nothing, ill check again just incase. Thanks again bolthan i owe ya one. [edit] Ok i've got the leg and shoulder problem sorted out now its just the lights that wont dissapear now (-_-') |

[edit] Nevermind this Shiznit here i've figured out what i've done wrong with the help of RodofNod (thanks man), i havent been importing other geosets so like i sed, forget about this topic now, thanks to Bolthan for helping me again. well im still working on this model and i havent found a way to remove the lights. The legs, forearm and shoulder armor shrink but only occasionally, this is getting extremely annoying, i think its my exporter thats faulty. The WC3 Art tools dont work for me either as when i export my model from SMax it adds vertices to my model for no reason. Instead of having 336 like the terran marine should have it has 650 or something. And i cant Copy n paste the vertices info from my model (using notepad) to the original terran marine model. If anybody knows at all how to help, i beg you to please tell me as im stumped how this is happening. :( Thanks. p.s. The picture on the left is the model i've edited, once i've converted it form a MDX using my exporter to MDL (to swap the vertices of this model to the original terran marines mdl in notepad) then converted the terran marines MDL with the new vertices info to MDX using the File convertor it ends up like the pic on the right! The team color areas, the lights and the gun go back to the shape they were in before i edited/resized them. |
