I really don't like the map, but I really like that marine.
Although...
I noticed you were too lazy to precisely cut it out, ad instead kinda blurred the edges with a smudge tool of the sort. Even though it would be a pain in your a**hole, you gotta try cutting it along the outline. And coloring it would be nice too.

Yer Bugger! Hear me I begya and say thankee. (Jesus, those books are getting to me)
Well, you can find some all over the net, but here is what i really think you should do: One of the big rules of art is color theme/contrast. You need some sort of dominant color in there, and then use either shades of that, colors next to it on the color wheel, or color opposite it on the color wheel. I suggest you first color your marine like so, and once you've done that use those colors for the rest of it. Then, take a very simple map, just a black outline, and color it, shadow, bevel it, add all the effects you want! Make it all your creation!
Do as you please deathlegionnaire-sai, but hear i begya.

ok. i redid the map and fixed the marine abit. how is it now?

thanks for the advice.

i didn't feel like coloring the marine because i wanted to keep that dark past kind of atmosphere.

The first one was better, I loved the way the marine looked like it was dissapearing into smoke.

Get another picture and do the same, maybe some general's looking at some battle plans on a table
