I posted this here becuase i think it might be photoshop that is causing this. For some dumb reason my computer is using way more memory that it needs to do stuff. I look in the task manager the other day and saw that the thing was using 418 megabytes with just Photoshop and IE open. I mean that is just crazy! I went into the processes tab and tallied everything up and came out with a total of 104 megabytes of stuff running! I have no idea why my computer thinks it is using way more than it should. I don't know if it is photoshop, but whenever i open photoshop 230+ megabytes of ram are suddenly used up. I know this isn't right becuase on my brothers computer he was running at 144 megabytes when he had IE and Photoshop open. Does anyone know if there is some setting in photoshop? Help plz. |

Photoshop uses a massive scratchdisk system because its designed to deal with professional quality images that can push 200mb, typically it hogs your ram then dragoons a part of your HDD into its service. If you dont want it to do that, fish around in photoshop's properties/preferences and look for an option to set scratch disk size and location. Reduce it to like 50mb if you dont like it using up space but it will be very likely that it will take forever to carry out any processes in photoshop unless you deal with nothing but tiny tiny images. In any case the best solution is the one you least want to hear; get a better comp. |
