I'm publishing a beta of my melee map. Pretty much, it's the Draenei instead of the Orcs. I created a tech tree and a few more buildings for balance. The resource gathering is a bit different here, they harvest at double the rate (I may lower this in the final version, though probably not as low as normal, feedback please!). Their units are a bit stronger than normal ones of the same level (as they were in the SP mission(s)), but at the same time are slightly overpriced for their worth (for balance). I also haven't decided on an air unit for them yet. If you have any good ideas for this please let me know. It'll probably be a creep or campaign air unit of some sort (at least for the skin) as none of the standard ones really seem Draenei enough (Bat Rider abilities are good I think, but the Bat Rider isn't...)... Any feedback is appreciated! --Chaltier Note: The tooltips may be a bit off, as I've yet to change them all, but they won't be TOO far off... Also, the Protector is the only (decent) anti-air unit so far (though it does it's job well...), so bear with me on that one, I'm working on it ;) . Edited because: I don't know how to make the hero spawn only once, if anyone knows how to do this, please let me know! TY! Also, any hero ideas (for the other two) are welcome! . |

It would seem that the Protector threw Headhunters instead of the Headhunter's weapon. This has now been fixed. |

Downloading. Be back soon with feedback. Edit: Review Units - 7/10 Very repetitive use of the same model :\ Yeah, I know it's pretty much the ONLY model but you need some variety at the lower tier units (use the colored models in tier 1 as well, just make them smaller than ones used in other tiers). Also try using the color-shades that are in the unit editor. Try to make every unit look somewhat different. Buildings - 6.5/10 They were okay but I doubt the town-hall type structure needs to build 3 different type of units. Also change the "Upgrade to Greater Draenei Haven" description to the type Blizzard uses, tier 2+ sounds too wierd :\ LOWER BUILD TIMES. o.O Holy moly, the Altar type structure takes forever to build :D But I suppose it needs to be that long since the hero is perma-invis, eh? :) However you definantly need to lower the Supply Structure's build time, I like how you combined the Lumber Mill type structure with the supply type. Pretty cool. HOTKEYS. Make them in your building names and make them good. Not like anything on the right side of the keyboard :P (K, N, L, O, P, ect) B is good for barracks, and it'd save a lot of time looking throughout all the building icons (they all look the same :\) for the building you want. Heroes - 8/10 Akama - Since he's the only one, I'll review him. Please dear god tell me he's going to have new skills? :( I hate it when people make heroes with skills from other heroes. I'm sure he doesn't need "Hide", too, since he's permanently invisible. Also, make the Permanent Invisibility skill a learned skill, perhaps ultimate? Change his description, too, it's kinda small for a hero. Upgrades - 6/10 Not many upgrades, are there? That's my favorite thing to make! :D Upgrades are the funnest thing to make in the Editor, IMO. Make a whole bunch of NEW upgrades for the Draenei units. They need 'em. Descriptions - 2/10 Ow. :\ You need descriptive descriptions asap. It's dumb to see "Heavy melee unit", cmon... be more descriptive?? Overall - 7.5/10 Pretty good exept for some parts. I like the ground type scout unit you made, that's a first for the game, I think. I like it, though! Work on the spots I said and PM me when you finish it, or post it up here. Good luck and good work! |

Units: I kinda used the models they gave. I know how to edit colour but how do I change size (really needed for buildings)? Is it the 'Scaling' thing in the Art section? The Guardian has to, by it's name, be one of the more powerful units, so it's size should be increased etc. :) . I LOVE the sound set (How can I aid you?, How can this old one help? etc), so unless I get really bad feedback on it being the same for every units, it stays ;) . And yes, I do need to change descriptions. For units it takes forever to load a new one in after I hit the OK button though (after I enter the desc.), and I have a good machine, so I don't get that o_O. Buildings: Again, descriptions can be changed with some annoyace :P . I can do hotkeying and lower build times. Question: Does making one letter in the name, like, yellow, put that as a hotkey or do I also have to put it in some sort of hotkey slot too? For the Haven, I had no other place to train them at that seemed right (besides perhaps the Chieftain's Hut (Altar)), any suggestions? Heroes: All that can be done. Any suggestions on abilities (I can think up some on my own, but I have a tendancy to make heroes, especially when it's the only one, overpowered)? Upgrades: I can do that :P ! I agree making UGs is fun :P . I have a few ideas I can use here, any more are appreciated! (this will show up in someone's ideas I'm sure, but I've already thought of it :P . :making invis an upgrade so as not to have invis units start with it). So the harvesting is fine, the units aren't overly good and the Lesser Haven is an ok idea? Excellent! Having tried it, any thoughts on an air units or two more heroes? Thanks for the feedback, --Chal |

Easy to solve, friend. I heard this a long time ago, it's a LIFE saver. Follow these directions and you should cut the lag time after pressing OK in half: Open the editor In the main screen, go up to the pull-down menus at the top Go into the one that says "window" See the little check-mark that's next to "Brush List"? Uncheck it. Wa-la! Instant lag free unit editing! Hope that helps, all it does is disable the brush pad from refreshing itself after pressing the OK button every time. Causes the unit editor to run wayyy better! Quote:
Yes, to change the size you need to edit (although VERY lightly, .10 or even .05 is a LOT of a change in Scaling Value field) the Scaling Value area. However, I recommend you also change the "Selection Scale" field to correctly match the Scaling Value field, not exact numbers, but a large building with a small selection scale looks stupid. I still think you should color-edit a good portion of the tier 1 units. Quote:
Answer: No. You need to manually edit the field by going like this: (for units) Example~ Text - Tooltip - Basic: Train |cffffcc00A|rrcher the |cffffcc00|r is what makes words different colors. You can make all sorts of colors using a program found on this site. Any letter (or word) placed within the last digit and the | will be highlighted in that color! That's how Blizzard made it so easy to see hotkeys. However, once done configuring the colored words, you still need to make a hotkey the game recognizes. It's in the simple, plain easy to edit, field called "Text - Hotkey". Just put the hotkey of your choosing in there and wa-la! Just MAKE SURE IT MATCHES THE COLORED LETTER in your Text - Tooltip - Basic field! :) And sorry I don't feel like thinking up abilities right now :) I suppose I can think up some upgrades/abilities later, however. Good luck! |

I like your ideas, with a few things wrong (not with the feedback, but with some aspects of the game etc): I have, as previously stated, no clue how to make the heroes (or any unit for that matter) only be creatable (word?) once. Osama. Akama sounds Arabic, so I added names, all Arabic, or Arabic sounding. I know all the standard Arabic names and such, but since Osama sounds Arabic, I put it in. I never meant for the workers to do 4x damage to the trees, just 2x (that's the same collection rate as Ghouls), but because of a mix-up with Worker types, it happened. Gold and Lumber rates will be lowered. You are right that I meant for them to be slightly overpowered and slightly overpriced, and I try to maintain this balance. Thanks for bringing that up, as I can get carried away and forget to think about certain things ;) . I didn't see any problems with food (not that you stated any), these units cost plenty of food :D . You can make six races ?!?!?!?! I've been trying to figure out how to make a new race for weeks now (in various places)! I'll contact you guys about this for sure! |

I would suggest encyclopaedia mythica's mythology section if you're looking for names. Using the name Osama is just wrong... Links to Persian and Mesopotamian Mythology: http://www.pantheon.org/areas/mythol.../articles.html http://www.pantheon.org/areas/mythol.../articles.html |

Technically, the guy's name is Usama, not Osama. The US made that name up. |
