I want to revive an old D&D map I made, it was good, but its failure was I was too overconfident and made the DM help system too complicated (it had alot of menus/submenus) I want to get back to work on it, but is a D&D map worth working on? any feedback would be appreciated P.S - for those who do not know, D&D = Dungeons and Dragons |

The types of RPGs that are "IN" at the time seem to be the ones where you control a spawner and zoom it around placing things and entering commands (or whatnot) to upgrade your heroes, etc. I feel this is unfortunate, since most people just want to place a hero, make it uber and go around killing and destroying everything that the constructive people are doing :( But that's Bnet for you. There was one that you didn't really spawn anything but everyone chose a hero at the beginning and actually had to go kill creeps and level up on their own. Max level of 30 (you could, however, choose to be a builder in the beginning and you'd be able to construct a base via NORMAL means, with workers, and harvesting wood etc.) I think it was called Legends, was really much better than most "open" RPGs, just it was unprotected and so it became kinda lame. I'd suggest coming up with something very original if you want to do this kind of thing.. btw the only "D&D" type map I can think of is Neverlax's D&D for RoC, so if you meant something different than that you'd have to be more specific... |

I don't want to make some open RPG map or something just another D&D map and yes Neverlax is a good example |

If it's a solid idea, is fun and easy for new players to get into i say yes. I'm working on a hybrid d&d/warcraft campaign myself, though it has 27+ maps, is single player etc i know not everyone will like it, but i'm not making it for the masses, just people that like this style. The main things are to make it original & entertaining. |

so its essential I keep the original heroes, like archer and cleric instead of like dark druid, or dark templar names... such as that? I was thinking of keeping the original heroes, and adding some new simple creative ones. |

i dont see a problem with adding more heros/options. i dont really understand the style of game you're creating though. single / multi player, etc. |

the tft version of neverlax's D&D was good, but the players who are the heros are always mostly noobs who dont understand what the whole point of the game is about, and i always DM to find that all the heros have left after the first quest! you should have campaign items as well cause every time i tell the heros to collect an item to take somewhere else, one hero steals it and makes a runner, which kills the game. just soem things you gotta watch out for when making an D&D. BTW have you ever played a StarCraft version of D&D? they were good by giving the heros a dungeon to tackle before they reach the town and therefore giving extra time for DMs to make their quests. And if theres only 1 DM then he should be able to either give selected units to all hostile, or a team thats allied to heros but not human controled. I would really love to see a really good D&D that i can play DM easy and let the heros have fun :ggani: neverlaxes just falls short |
