I wasn't sure quite which forum to put this in, so I've decided to stick it here. The primary reason is because I need to iron out many of the more abstract philosophical elements, and this seemed to be the place to do it.

If a mod could sticky this, I would gratefully donate 1000 points.

This is a story that I've been developing over the past three years. I'm still working on many of the details of the story-line, but as a whole it's really begun to flesh out. I'll be posting additional info as time progresses, but until then here's a "teaser," if you will. Just so you know, the events of this story take place on a foreign world to ours.

The Prophecies had always existed, their origins dating back to before written history. They had once been the subject of worship as stories of events yet to come. Hundreds in number, they hail from all sections of the world. In this age of government and technology however, the human intuition is to forge a future for itself as opposed to putting faith into stories of classic fiction. The only thing that keeps people's interest is the fact that, from time to time, a prophecy comes true.

It's been seven years since the bounty hunter named Archin Wraith woke up on the streets with no memory of his past. Since then, he has led a fruitless search to rediscover the evasive truth behind his amnesia. But when a backstabbing client set up Archin as a wanted man, his lost past seems all too eager to catch up to him, and the secrets it holds are far greater than he could have ever imagined.

What really happened at Santera? What is the Nemesis project, and how was he involved? Who really is Radic, and what of the Muse he speaks of? To find the answers, Archin and his companions would have to delve deep into the very essence of the Prophecies and the mana-bound universe behind them.

I think you can sticky it yourself for 500 pts. and I don't think the mods take kindly to bribery. All in all iy sounds like a reasonable story, I'd have to get used to the names though...

Add a little detail, it looks ok for a sci-fi.

I'm not trying to bribe any mod; I'm just trying to recreate an old feature from the forum store. The option to sticky a thread (rather, all options that one would want to spend points on) is no longer avaliable at the store.

Just so people know, this story isn't made for novel format. It's more engineered for an RPG or perhaps a manga. And yes, the entire thing will hopefully be done in anime/manga style artwork. There are a total of 12 characters that come in and out of your 'party,' with 9 who stay permanently.

And now, a picture of the main character, Archin. His basic appearance is pretty much hammered out, but he still needs to have a bit more eye candy.

A little background philosophy

The universe as we know it is only a fraction of it's great magnificence. Existing alongside the forces that we perceive are countless other rules and dictations under which exist other realities, most of which inconceivable to us.

But one universal value remained ungoverned: chaos. This one property would always be jumping into equations, altering outcomes and creating general havoc among the rules. It is this uncontrolled variable that keeps all existence from simplifying down to zero and thus negating itself.

And so was to be the reality of Manna. The Manna realm is composed completely of chaos, virtually an infinite pool of it. It is however still governed by a few rules and equations, many of which resemble those presiding over our own perceived universe, though not enough to make it a noticeable part of it. Similarities are close enough however that the two realms can in some cases interact.

As a matter of fact, we wouldn't exist as we know it if it weren't for the chaos of mana formulating our individual personalities. Though we cannot perceive it, a part of the brain actually extends into the Manna realm, where chaos directly influences us in the realms in which we knowingly exist. Without the influence of mana upon our mental processes, we'd be nothing more than machines. Personality, preferences, eccentrics, mana is partially responsible for making each of us unique and ever-changing. The rest is up to upraising and influences from perceived surroundings.

It is important to know the difference between Manna and mana, despite their similarity. Manna is the chaotic essence, existent only within the Manna realm, infinite in amount. On the other hand you have mana. This is transferred Manna essence processed into a semi-tangible form, either by the brain or via an Epicenter Chamber. It exists in both realms, serving as a sort of gateway between the two.

Though long forgotten, there is also a method of harnessing mana through a mechanical means. Through a process known as the trans-dimensional matter conversion, a variety of instruments are utilized to convert mana into a useable form of energy. By managing both a black and white hole, Epicenter Chambers can both draw matter from as well as send matter to the Manna realm. While it is rather sloppy compared to the one-way transfer system utilized by the brain of every living thing, it has the advantage of being able to send matter into the Manna realm as well as draw from it. It can also siphon huge amounts of mana through. The purpose of these great machines is unknown and the inhabitants of very few planets have yet to discover them, but every planet in our story contains one of these machines at it's core.
