We the WC3C Staff are aware on the issue regarding The Community Campaign Contest. We have decided to discontinue the contest because no projects have been completed. We have approximately 30 contestants that have been registered and none of them have submitted anything. Very few of these have shown any activity recently. We will no longer support or extend the Contest itself because we have judged that there are no longer any participants. We will simply discontinue the contest. All who have already started but have not yet completed their work are encouraged to finish their work. All donated prize money will be returned to the donors. Thank You, WC3C Staff |

Hello. This is unfortunate yet predictable, more organization and interest by the staff would have helped. Anyway, few questions, what happens to the money? Are you going to refund people? |

Yes, all prize money will be returned. Most of it actually came from staff members, so it will not be difficult to do this. You posted a little before we added this part to the main post. |

No one had been donating for a long time anyway and I didn't see anything happening for the contest. |

wow. that sucks a lot, but i think we could all see it coming. all the projects weren't being updated for months anyways. shame to see that all that anticipation was for nothing. |

I cant say Im suprised, I wonder if there was only 1 submision, whether it would have won regardless of whether it was good or not. |

Perhaps a MAP MAKING CONTEST would be better? Just a single map that you submit. Im sure there would be many more submissions. Too much work goes into a campaign. |

uhm..first off..the website is called..Warcraft 3 campaigns..not Warcraft 3 single UMS maps...also i feel that most of the members of this site are unmotivated...if people were willing to contribute all of their time to single campaigns they'd be finished alot sooner... |

Very few are willing to make the social sacrifices needed to make a good campaign - that is to say in basic speak - that they don't want to spend their free time when they could be doing something more fun. This is why it is important to respect those who actually get things done, no matter what your actual opinion is of their campaign, because it did take some time, and you at least have to acknowledge that. Quite a shame. If I woulda known no one would finish, I would have made 4 maps with an orc saying 'hello', submitted it, then would have won. =) |

Yeah, I agree with Desler.. lots of people here are trying to work BUT most of them tend not to finish their own work because of the time they spend on their work. The reason is, 2 out of ** of the private forums are only used, you can clearly see that doesn't seem to be right. We noticed that people aren't interested on it or didn't give much devotion to their work. And the effect...? a failed campaign and a doomed contest. |

The same thing happened in StarCraft, when I did a campaign competition: http://cigam.50megs.com That was years ago, though! Lots of entries, no results. Some people apparently did work, but I never saw anything. As Desler said, social sacrifices are hard work. A guy working through BlizzPlanet is now doing a SC comp (Also for money)... let's hope that gets somewhere. :-/ |

I guess we weren't ready for it. |
