A problem with protection

01-02-2004, 06:12 AM#1
Mr. Euthanasia
I am having trouble protecting my map. I have tried using the heavy locker but it corrupts the map so I can't open it in game.
I then went and tried w3m map utitlies which displays the error "System Error &H8007007E(-2147024770). The specified module could not be found."
Slightly agitated I tried to protect it using zepir's map utility which screws up all my strings.
I also tried using extprotect but that too corrupts the map and I am unable to open it in game.
If someone could point out the problem, give a solution, or give me a utility it would be greatly appreciated.

Did you use the latest version of extprotect?
If so, would you PLEASE send the map to the address on the extprotect page

If you send me the map I'll fix extprotect to work on it.

I have version 0.1.1.0ß. Is that the latest version?
I will try using extprotect again and if it doesn't work I will post what it says and I will send you the map.

You could also protect it the simple easy way by replacing the war3map.wtg file with an empty wordpad document

1. MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR MAP (you won't be able to open it again once protected)
2. Make an empty wordpad document (or whatever file you want)
3. Open your map
4. Click on "Import Files"
5. Find your file
6. Click Import file
7. Double-click the file you just imported
8. Check the box in the dialog that comes up
9. Change the file name to war3map.wtg (delete everything before the slash then name it!)
10. you have now protected your map (I hope you made a backup copy??? Or else you cant open it again )

Thank you for looking at my tutorial please give me Rep. if this helped you at all!

I wouldn't call that protecting a map, unfortunally some idiot made this program that breaks that method too easily

Warcraft 3 map optimizer works pretty well for me. I found it after exprotect went on a spree and kept corrupting every map I used it on. I have heavy locker, but it corrupts my maps sometimes depending on the setting I use.

With the map optimizer, be careful with the settings you use, because some of them corrupt the map too.

Can find it at http://www.wc3sear.ch/index.php?p=Tools&ID=33&sid=

Why do you want to protect your map? Give others a chance to learn from your creations. I always simply put a trigger in my map with "Copyright 2004-2005 kreative." So why don't you do that too?

1. There are faggots who steal your map then or add cheats.
2. Don't start with the fucking discussion about protectiong or not!!! If you want do it and if you don't want then don't do it but stop the freaking discussions, they always end in a 10+ pages confusing thread with some flames and no useable result...

Elven Ronin: I'd appreciate it if you'd send whatever maps ExtProtect corrupted to the email address on extprotect.psychosanity.com so I can look into it and work on fixing ExtProtect.
