I pay £109 a year for racknine.com's premium service. Good deal, but we're considering changing over.

I thought it was lower than 1k.. then again I havent asked, but i've known all the admins well (not aswell with the recent ones... but anyways..) I'll have to clarify that, I have the AIM for the guy who pays the bill (ChrisUK)

Whoa, 99 a month for wc3c? only? I'd do that... A lot cheaper with your own linux webserver, maybe 50 for the vB..

A bit more information from Cortalos, who other than Skuzzy was definately the most knowledgeable active admin... ChrisUK is almost never on..

Kurama l337: yo
Kurama l337: hey, I had a quick question
coRtALoS: sup
coRtALoS: had? or have?
coRtALoS: :-)
Kurama l337: do ya know how much it costs a month to run bf?
Kurama l337: :-)
Kurama l337: have
Kurama l337: :P
coRtALoS: it can range
coRtALoS: chrisuk is overpaying
Kurama l337: cause I got my hands on a nice lil linux webserver
Kurama l337: :/
coRtALoS: anywhere between $400-$1000
Kurama l337: a month?
coRtALoS: chris is paying closer to $1000
coRtALoS: yep
Kurama l337: jeez
coRtALoS: but he's retarded
Kurama l337: how much if you host it yourself?
coRtALoS: as much as it costs to build a powerful computer, and get a T1 connection
coRtALoS: could go with cable, but wouldn't work for the forums
coRtALoS: for something the size of BF
coRtALoS: that'd estimate around $300/mo
Kurama l337: i already have t1 :P
Kurama l337: alright
Kurama l337: some thread on wc3campaigns.com impulsed me to ask ya
coRtALoS: need around a 3GHz
Kurama l337: they only pay 99 a month
Kurama l337: 3ghz processor?
coRtALoS: at least 1 Gig of RAM
coRtALoS: i'd recommend more
coRtALoS: yep
coRtALoS: the forums itself is around 1.3 Gigs
coRtALoS: heh

See i know Swooper (admin)

So can you explain a little more about webhosting? Until the admins come and reply :P.

I mean like all i did waz buy from

ipowerweb.com

Whats a server and why do you need a strong computer :O

So whos the guy you were talking to Skuzzy?

kuramaRoze
Skuzzy created the site, and was an admin. I was talking to cortalos, the admin after skuzzy, and then came back before swooper/amantis/etc

Well, if you want to host a big and powerful site like BF or WC3C, you'll need a fast computer and host it yourself using linux servers. Otherwise hosting from a site is ok. they make you pay fee's to use their servers they have.
