adding hero glow?

If i want to add hero glow to a unit.. is this possible without editing the model file?

Maybe there is any similar special effect i can attach everywhere to the unit? does anyone know? I'll try to look around all special effects, but it's hard to find.. there are so many ^^ oh right.. i need one for each player color.. doh.. if you know any cool glow effects please tell me, or maybe i can change the skin of the glow model.. umm this is gettting weird..

I'm no modeller/skinner, but I've had a look at most hero models, which have a small dot where the glow emanates from. My guess is that the model has a particle emitter attached there for team colours.
