Is anyone able to get or teach me how to get sound from the game war of the Ring, cause i really want the voices of the Lord of the Nazgul, Saruman, Haradrim Slayer, Uruk-Hai, Black Rider and Orc Slasher If I can get it out, I'll try to post some of them up. |

Ah yes, the voices were one of the few good parts of the game (Even though I played through to the end of both campaigns, I found it a bit boring). I'm presuming the voices are on the install CD, in 'archives' as the file 'SpeechFX.H2O'. Usually people make programs that let you edit the files in a game (e.g. an MPQ Viewer for WarCraft, or a PakEditor for Quake-engine games), but I've no idea if there is much fan interest for WOTR. Check on google to see if there are any. You could just record them out - would be quicker I suppose - in which case you shuld see my tutorial, attached. Finally, if you don't want the attack sounds getting in the way of the speech (e.g. when you order a hero to attack a unit), just lower the sound effect. I hope that helps. |

WOTR was produced by a developer owned by Vivendi, just like how Blizzard are. To coincide with the time of the film, they've rushed it out in time. Though it's not massively buggy, it's quite poor. It was designed to DIRECTLY be like WC3 simply because WC3 is popular and all that. The old "Give them more of what they like." (Rather than something new). Yet they toned it down as well. It's far simpler and easier to play - it does have a lot more units on screen, but that did create lag for me. Each hero only has three skills, and each race has four special Fate powers you can cast (Killing enemies fighting generates Fate points which let you cast spells and gain skills). There are no creeps in multiplayer either. So it's half based off WC3, but barely half as good. I was bored in the holidays and played through both Good and Evil campaigns. Single player is mostly build and destroy. Even Helm's Deep is pretty basic and far duller than the film version. I really don't recommend it. |
