Open War3Patch.mpq and go to Options, File Lists and there add all listfiles that should be checked to the list.

Then these listfiles will bechecked, whenever you open a mpq archive. If you use the complete listfile of Starcraftfreak it will be able to view all files of war3, war3x war3xlocal and war3Patch.mpq

Well, i already did something like that, but the problem is now, the goblin alchemist isn't in the war3patch.mpq.... why?

I can't see your problem. I have a Units\Creeps\HEROGoblinALCHEMIST\HEROGoblinALCHEMIST.mdx file in my War3Patch.mpq. In the same dir as this file are the sounds and the texture.

This is the only way the use of this listfile was intended. I thought, if someone really needed a War3Patch.mpq - only list, he'd load the MPQ with my list and saves the War3Patch.mpq list. You can also rename such a War3Patch.mpq list to "(listfile)" and add it to War3Patch.mpq. Then you have an internal list. If that doesn't work, you are doing something wrong.

I wouldn't have thought that there are that many problems with listfiles...

BTW, I will clean up this thread after some time. I will include a basic description how to load listfiles in WinMPQ in the FAQ. I didn't know that there are so many people who are not familiar with this feature.

All I do when I add in a listfile, is rename the txt file to (listfile) with no extension, drag it into winmpq with the patch.mpq file open, after its in there, hit F5.

Odd..... very odd, i wonder if i have a messed up War3Patch.mpq then because i still am not seeing it, i see the goblin tinker fine, but there is no more unknowns, no goblin alchemist, i did all the steps correctly. But there is one thing bugging me, in the lower right corner, some text says "Total 379/429 files" even though there is only one unknown file, it says that there is 50 files that aren't displayed.

I have 520/526. The number of "missing" files says nothing. If there aren't more unknowns there are no more "hidden" files. To cut a long matter short, I can only tell you that the reason for these odd "missing" files is caused by the MPQ file format. It doesn't matter how many of these are "missing". I'm too lazy to explain the hole issue now (would be too long).

After another check through my patch MPQ with both of the listfiles, I can say that I cannot find the Alchemist either. The closest thing I found were the buttons for Acid Spray and something else, which seem to be some spells from this hero

I do have the Alchemist there.
SCF and me are both using the german version, hm
Maybe try playing around with local ids?

I made a tool that creates listfiles.

You just need to extract the patch.lst from the MPQ inside the standalone patch.

This program makes it into a listfile.

Check the dates next time, so you don't revive threads again.

I programmed such a program for myself a long time ago.

Well, it appeared in the top of the thread list to me. Didn't seem like thread revival.
