do you want to use triggers? If so, do you know how to do things like check if this unit cast this spell, or targeted this unit? |

Ok, to make a good custom spell u need a good idea for the spell. Thats the hardest part for me. Anyways, non triggered custom spells are fairly simple. First think of something you want to happen. Lets say u want a spell that will give a unit 20 health and mana a second for 10 seconds. What you should do is base it on rejuvination (sp?) and then just change the data of life healed to 200 and mana healed to 200 and make it last 10 seconds. Then, to confuse people on how you made the spell, I always change as much of the graphics as possible. So maybe you should change the Buff to faerie fire and change the text/icon on the buff too. Then call it something cool. Just using heal is very ordinary. Try something like...well i cant think of something cool right now but you get the idea. Then just change the spell text and you have your spell. As long as you have an idea of what you want to make then its easy. For trigger spells the hardest part is still knowing what you have to do. The only difference I find with triggered spells is that you have to know exactly how to do it and if theres a mistake it might screw up your whole spell. Anyways, to conclude this, im basically saying that i think you can only have good spells if you have good ideas. But, if you need help making a specific spell then im sure there are lots of people at this forum, including myself, who would be glad to help you. Thats just my 2 cents |

Remember to use patience when testing out spells. If anything is wrong with something but you can't fix it in the object editor, then add triggers to spice things up. Also, don't forget to add special effects! |

The best place to start is by looking around in theforums for examples of trigger enhanced spells. I know there are plenty here cause thats how i started. Then, just look the triggers and try to change something here or there and see what it does. Eventually, u will be able to understand how to make a whole triggered spell from scratch |
