What do you think? I want to have 2 versions of my map officially released, 1 gold version and 1 normal version. The normal version will be the standard gameplay, minimal sfx and made as lag free as possible. And a gold version that makes the game look extra nice, what a gold version will include would be: Custom skins, possibly models too. Lots of special effects for deaths, spawning, leaking etc. Sounds Different terrain They would both be updated at the same time and released at the same time, do you think it's worth it? |

If it's a multiplayer map - maybe. If it's sp - no. |

Multiplayer, TD. Yes yes, td, but unique. Trust me. |

I wouldn't. Why have a bad version. I can see 'possibly' if you release one a lot sooner and then have a Gold Version later. |

Umm...how much more space are you making it take up? People will probably just play the "lite" version if you release it anyway, 'cause they don't want to wait to dl a TD... |

Ofcourse they dont want to wait, thats why the normal version would have any EXTRA goodies, but for people who respect the map and want to see what its like with the extra features, they will do so. Even though the majority of bnetters are morons, there are some good ones out there |

Then you'll have to decide if you want to go through the work of updating two maps and adding in custom models to the second map when it probably won't get played all that much anyway...heh but sure, go for it if you want... |

It wont require much modification as opposed to the normal one, basically import/export triggers and unit data, and modify the rest. Might take another 1-5% longer to update, but it's not a big loss. |

then go for it, unless you want to force people to play the map with the graphics... |

If it's a TD, even a 'unique' one, I have to suggest making a normal version regardless of if you have a 'gold' version or not. Too many units, too much lag. Unless it's so unique it never lags 8)) But how likely is that to happen? EDIT2: Stupid reset button... My answer is yes and no to the actual question though. It would be cool to have 2 versions of your map out, but I think people will gradually choose one over the other for whatever reasons. |

You are right, they probably will choose one over the other, but what if there are a select few who like the other one more? Either way when they find the map and they like it, they will play either version. |
