first of all im a newb to making models and i just dled a trial version of milkshape, now I just made a model and I want to turn into a weapon attachment in warcraft 3? How would I animate it and what other stuff do I need to put on it to work? Also how would I make it so wc3 knows where I want the sword to be held at? Can anyone give me a tutorial of how to do it? Keep in mind; i didnt make any joints, textures and didn't use the "FACE" tab at all. I only made the model by using many basic figures and manipulating them. I also cleaned and welded the model. Program Model: MilkShape 3D 1.7.0 Milkshape Plugins I added in: wc3exporter and zerojoint Other Programs I have: Lithunwrap, Adobe PhotoShop 7, wc3viewer, wc3converter Heres a picture of my model, it may not be good quality, but I just did something really easy, so I can learn alot and do better the next time...... (its supposed to be the buster sword from ff7) |

In Milkshape, the point of origin (where all the axes meet and all coordinates are 0) is where it attaches. It does all of that for you. Oh, and how did you import/export .mdxs with Milkshape? |

Acutall you have to set the model on a certain angle. Try looking at other weapon attachments, they are lopsided and yours is standing. I dont think you need bones and such. Only the place where you place the model counts:bgrun: |

thats true, if u were to import it now the sword would be standing like it is now when u attach it. hence u need to lay the sword horizontally across the X axis i think im not sure which axis it is off top of me head but a bit of trail n testing wouldnt hurt. and yes the attachment point will be done auto to were u place the sword in milkshape 0,0,0 is were it will attach so move the handle just a bit past so u get a middle hold. different case with max cos of art tools u can set them but the old fashion way is also as good i guess :D good luck |

hmm, thats cool thnx for the info about the attachment. Do I need faces and materials for the skin to work or can I just unwrap and make the skin? Blah I dont know what faces are and materials so can anyone tell me, the only thing I do know is that materials can make colors. Thnx EDIT: Plugins, there should be one here at the download section. |
