I hope this is the right section... if not, oh well Anyways, what was your first map you ever made in the world editor (lol)... mine was called... Castle War It was pathetic... No triggers at all... (Reign of Chaos Map) Basically it was a 'tiny' size map where there was 2 crudely made square areas that I called castles, and it was a 4 v 4 where you started with a preplaced hero... You would go outside your "castle" and kill creeps for gold, and then return and get tomes, and if you managed to kill the custom 'wizard' unit, with like a 10,000 life, you would get an item that made you unbeatable... this map was sad... a disgrace... I am VERY glad no one ever played it except me Sadly I was proud of this map and thought it was good at the time :(... but that's ussualy how it is |

Mine was a OoT type game. You randomly went around with predetermined characters to all the locations of hyrule...which were cramped and soo far from good it wasnt even funny...Anyways, It ended up sucking and some idiot said to use triggers...and so it all started. :D |

Bunker Wars the second UMS map for War3 Beta (before we had a 100% worldedit0. It was like a madness map only your goal was to destroy the enemy bunker. As I had no idea what I was doing everytime you gained a level I would replace your old blademaster witha new one. It was really quite popular for its time. |

Do you mean your first map ever made or first map ever started? Seing as Ive only really released once map Ill, my first map I started (this was like 1 year and a half ago) was a siege of minas tirith map. I thought it had some pretty good ideas, every unit was a hero (for a neat veterancy system). It had no triggers, some alright terrain (minas tirths a hard bugger 2 make), and neva came close to being playable. But I still think it had some promise. Wow you got a hell of a lot of posts within 5 mins |

Ima move this to map devo, just 'cause. It's a talk about developing maps, and it will get better talk in here that crazy OT. Mine was a partially finished RPG. Really crappy. I've improved about x100. |

My first map was pretty cool, but completely simple compared to anything now. You controlled Ogrim Doomhammer (A hero Wolfrider) and a team of Wolf Riders and you had to infiltrate Gul'dans Temple of the Damned... It had an intro cinematic.. I was so happy. :ggani: Anyway.. Brings back good memories. -Fiery |

I long since gave up on it, but my first map was Hungry, Hungry Kodos. Basically, you played a Kodo, and different colored wisps bobbed and weaved randomly around the map. You had to go devour your color of wisps for points, but if you ate a wisp of the wrong color, you'd get "sick" and go to sleep for 10 seconds. There were all sorts of rounds, like being shrunk, moving insanely fast, all wisps were of mixed up colors, etc. It would have been a lot of fun... .. except that clicking on targets and ordering a kodo to devour them isn't fun whatsoever. Not one bit. D - click, D - click, D - click. I played it once, and then gave up utterly on it. |

well, i haven't finished any maps cause they were all stupid ideas, but my closest map to finishing was for SC, a ZOT map and it rocked! it was made like... rock for rock from the N64 game. Also, since SC loading screens were 10x cooler it had changing around text and stuff. biggest prob was fairies didn't work, and every time you went through goron place they repeatedly said, "Hello Brother" on average, 6 times, record was 2 tho. but then WC3 came out :(. but my first WC3 map was twisted maze D, i was almost done with guy spawning when, i noticed that 25 units from 4 directions, crossing in the middle... at the same time, doesn't work ://// now I'm making an awesome AOS. its gonna have everything... except people helping me :( |

Lets see here, my first map that i started on wc3 was an rpg that was never finished. It wasnt a hack and slash type either, i was trying to use an idea i saw in a sc map where you run arround with a unit with no attack, and once you come close to an enemy you go into a fight. I had a slot machine minigame working on it as well. I decided to stop doing any terrain after that, sure the terrain looked better than most on battlenet, but the terrain sucked too much for my standards. |

Our first map was a Warhammer 40k conversion called Hiveworld. It was a 4 race melee map that had all 40k units. To get resources you needed to capture energy wells scattered around the map. We stopped working on it when we couldnt figure out how to make rescue unit work for anyone other than player 1 (we could do that in our sleep now, lol). Then we decided that a TD would be easier and started on Hive's Revenge TD. ....Four months latter we finished the TD. Turns out it wasnt as easy as we thought. It wasnt a normal TD tho. It was the first Tower War style map and had a lot going on in it. Quite a learning experiance it was. We might go back and finish Hiveworld someday. We have a long list of projects to do and only so much time. Its the kind of map that screams for custom skins. Maybe if we get into skinning we will go back to it. We are looking into learning about skinning so we might start. That is if we dont get banned for aggravating the skinning forum moderator. 8)) |

Heh, my first map was very simple: kill the dragon located on the island. No trigger edition etc. :D |

Well, it was a modded TD. I took Mr. 123's Beta-TD-Map and added towers, names, and well... Just general coolness. It turned out awesome, and I also made the first "Unit towers" :). But then some jackass stole my map, edited the terrain slightly, removed my name, kept mr.123's and released under his own name. Either way, it was my first map. Regards Dead-Inside |

Hrm.. Can't remember the true first map, I did a lot of just looking around.. but the earliest I remember is the Shared Bases style map where I just messed around and learned little quirks about WC3 editing and some interesting trigger ideas used later on.. Ability editing.. annoying natural disasters.. some other crap. About two people liked it, however-- I did not. Then Norbo's War.. Expanded upon my 'shared bases' and added more balance/polish.. Some people liked this one. Some stalked me. Then Genesis of Empires with Squashwell. Whee. All of them base-buildin' type games. Humm. |
