Exact Animation?

In some cinematics that I've seen, 2 units attack each other and block each others' weapons at exactly where the weapon makes contact.

How is this accomplished? I tried to time it with two units, say two footmen, attacking each other trying to make both their swords block the blows:

The results were that either the sword graphic went through the sword or the sword didn't even make contact with the sword. And it varies. Like if you start the game, the two footmen don't make contact with their swords, you restart the game again, this time the footmen's swords go through each other.:bgrun:

If it is true what i think you are trying to do, then first of all, you have to make the 2 footmens face each other. Then for the blocking ( if i get it right) you have to use animations. fx animation - play units animation, then choose attack, and do it for the other unit. Now comes the more difficult part, you have to have the right timing. check how long the attack animation is, and i can see it is 1 sec exactly. Let's say, it' the unit to the right that blocks, then do action wait (for the time that it takes for the unit to get there in the animation where it blocks). and then say the animation - set animation speed to 0 for the unit that blocks. Then where the other footmans sword makes contact with the other sword, set animation speed to 0 for it too. Then when you want's it to do other stuff just set animation speed for both to %100 again.. Hope it helped :D

:( Sadly, I have already tried this, but it goes out sync. After matching the speeds EXACTLY it does the blocking correctly for that one game.

If I restart the game again and watch it, the animations do not time it precisely. The sword either goes through or doesn't make contact. I am speaking from memory, since I was working on a cinematic with 2 units dueling then I found that the animations don't seem to follow through even when I didn't change any of the timing.

I got mad and gave up... :(

1 thing. Giving up is a bad idea... Well, the thing that is wrong here is that it plays the wrong animation. Here use the Animation - play units animation (specify rarity). You have to set if it's the common or rare animation (I'm not really sure what to pick :/).. But try it.

Yup I noticed that problem in TTOA part 1 with the Blademaster and Lord Morren. Not sure if I ever fixed it, but I will for the final version.

That is one of the most irritating problems with War 3.

Usually Rare animations are longer, and don't play as much when attacking.
