Im trying to make a spell, Flaming arrows. the deal is you have a passive ability based off of envenomed spears. the person getting hit takes damage, gets the buff, but no SFX. Thats prob #1. Number 2 is i want units around it to get the same effect it has. Ive gotten close w/ triggers. Everyone in a 100 radius got fire and took damage, but fire never went away, couldnt figure out how. Another prob is no matter what the SFX is the attacked unit by the spell gets envenomed arrows effect. help plz...

Edit: ok i figured out that the spell is still linked to original buffs, poison (stacking) and poison (non-stacking) so when i change attachments on that theres no sfx on unit.

ok... sorry for triple post but the mess up lost a few post here and they helped. the problem now is that for meat wagon disease cloud to work on any unit it has to be an artillary attack type which gives them attack ground, and that doesn't work for me. the other problem is when they do get the damage and all, from the custom spell, from the custom ward, with the custom pheonix fire with the custom buff... they still get pheonix fire buff.

Twistar... I don't blame your for triple posting, hell, I've thought about it sometimes, and I'm not mad with you but, the mods might be so I suggest you stop, k?

Ok, here's the reply...

To get rid of the SFX on the unit that got hit with envenomed spears, change the buff to have no SFX.

To destroy trigger created SFX's you have to set them to a varaible, then destroy the special effect contained inside that variable.

To get the fire damage you want, you could do:

Unit Group - Pick Every Unit within 512.00 Radius of (Attacked Unit)

Unit - Set the Life of (Picked Unit) to Life of (Picked Unit) - 10.

If you wanted to put an SFX on there, use an SFX that dies after a while, so you don't have to use a compicated varaible system to remove it.

I hope that clears some of what you needed up.

thanks eriond but i decided to use the meat wagon plague. when i change the buff to have no sfx it works.. but i want a sfx on my custom buff and that doesn't work for some reason. I don't know if you look at my 3rd post i think :bgrun: (p.s. I'm gonna delete ones not needed) you'll see i have it set up really confusing but I'm not on my computer. theres tons of room for error so ://// I'm going to go delete that 4th post... sorry bout it just getting impatient.

edit: there, now its only a double post. and i think thats allowed once if threads dying

so you want an ability based on searing arrow with splash? or somewhat like that demolisher fire? or? for normal units? for heroes?

huh... ok fine heres the clearest i can write it...
im making an ability flaming arrows. Its a passive ability where the hero with it attacks any unit and the unit goes up in flames. other units around it also go up in flames because i guess they're flamable. every burning unit will take damage over time depending on the level. I'm basing it off of plague (meatwagon.) It summons my custom ward, fire, with my custom ability, fire, with my custom buff, fire. Thats what i meant about confusing. The problems are that for spell plague (meatwagon) has to be on a unit with artilary attack type but when units have artiler attack type they have attack ground and I dont want that. The other problem is that the custom ability my ward has gives the units the buff phoenix fire, but they are supposed to get the custom buff fire. all the buffs and abilitys set up right so the ability fire has the right buff it just reads off of the original buff.
I thought it was pretty clear before but ok if this helps you it will help me :D

because i don't need to. I'm sure someone can fix this is 90 seconds. I don't have to waste a bunch of time remaking an entire spell.

I'm not sure what you mean... if attack ground is and ability then I'm not that stupid to give my unit it then ask why it has it. but if its targets than I could try getting rid of it (if its even there) but i doubt thats the problem because without artillery attack its fine. as for Phoenix fire buff, it is my own custom Phoenix fire.

huh... i dont get that part. but before the unit has the attack type artillery there is no attack ground.

well, I either need to know the exact ability to remove or need some weapon type expert...
