So I started making a model (it's Trogdor from the Strong Bad E-mails) but I made it just using lineshapes, because it makes it a lot easier. I'm not too concerned about quality right now, but I want to know if I can turn this line shape into a 3D object, and then I could just play with vertices from there to get a better shape. So is there anyway to extrude a shape like this? |

NO it's for snake...or dragon. But yeah, you've got it right on. It's a WIP, I just wanted to post a pick to help people see sort of what I'm talking about. I think that I can just export it as a .dfx and do what I want to in AutoCAD, but that would require setting that back up and I don't want to take the time to do that right now. So if it can be accomplished in 3DS MAX or gMAX or something it would be easier right now. |

well i would use the bevel modifier... play around with it and see what you can do |

Throw the pic up as your background in 3DS and build to the guidelines. |

all you gotta do is convert it to an editavle mesh, then extrude/bevel it. Just right-click on the object, go to Convert to>Editable Mesh. Then select the polygon sub-object level, and extrude/bevel the mesh. AND THH TROGDOR COMES IN THE NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIGHT! |

For whatever reason, the extrude option is disable whenever I select the shape. I even tried it with like a simple circle shape thinking that maybe it was Trogdor that wasn't working but I can't seem to be able to extrude anything at the moment. UPDATE: Well, I finally got the extrude/bevel option available, but the problem is that it's only for polygons. The problem is that this shape seems not to have any polies, just vertices. So right now that isn't happening. |

try rotating your view. you might be looking at the back of the mesh |
