A huge embarrassing flaw about my map is the insanely long loading time... it takes like at least a minute for other players to load my map every single game. (I seem to load it in about 15-20 seconds, but is that because I'm the host?) What exactly causes this? I have 134 units starting off on the map, 4 items. 257 doodads, 60 regions, 22 cameras, 58 triggers, 95 variables, and 24 sounds(all of them are internal). I have 257 custom objects. I haven't imported any files. The map size is 224 x 192 (which is pretty damn big). My highest cliff level is 13 (At least, 13 levels above my lowest level... im not sure what the cliff level of my lowest level is. I know this is probably a weird thing to put down but I figured it might make a difference). So... what's my problem? |

You have a map that big and only 257 doodads? Kinda plain Jane, isn't it? The easiest way to test this, of course, is to back up your map. Then, on a spare copy, delete all the doodads, all the triggers, etc. etc. in sequence and see if that doesn't speed up map loading time. Sounds like you've got a player synch issue, which I'd argue has more to do with triggers running out of synch with each other. Do you have any Map Initialization triggers? Try to change those to Event - Game time elapsed is 1 second, and see if that doesn't help. That way, everybody's already in game when the init trigger runs. |

My map LoX D&D also takes wayyyyyyyyyy too long to load Map Size: 192 x 192 Regions: 37 Cameras: 0 Sounds: 3 Preplaced Units: 674 Preplaced Items: 0 Doodads: 5237 Variables: 43 Triggers: 161 |

I had TONS of doodads before (2500+ i think...), but everyone claimed that all those doodads were lagging the crap out of them, so I had to take most of them out. The tons of units on the map was already bad enough (not the ones that start out, but the ones that spawn) Alright, ill try that. |

Ouch. I've got a crapload of doodads on my 256x256 map (easily 5000), and the loading time's only about 20 seconds - the real trigger action fires at 1 second into the map, though, and very few units are preplaced, so there's not much besides doodads and terrain for the map to worry about. LMK how that turns out, and we can work from there. |

Lower file size + Less doodads = faster load 8)) |

Why make it elapsed time 1 second? Doesn't 0 seconds work even better? Everytime I do a trigger like that I use 0 seconds instead... and, after I've protected my map, its only 261k... so its not that big |

this may not work, or it might sound stupid.. but.. im thinking of this as i go along. maybe you could make a trigger to make all the doodads, as soon as your in game. then it will only be like a second or two of lag time, in game (depending on how many doodads or w/e) i dunno... if your really that worried about load time, maybe u can try something like that. Oh yeah, this just popped into my head also.. lolz What about using Heavy Locker?? it lowered my 1.6 mb map to 600 kb.. and it still worked.. i was amazed.. maybe it will work for you? |

I dont know if this would work or not because I dont know much about JASS, but maybe you could put all units doodads etc onto the map, then go into the script of your map with an MPQ editor, copy the parts that create each unit/doodad etc, open your map, delete all of them, then paste that text into a trigger that starts elapsed game time 0/1 seconds into game. |

Were the earlier posts on this thread deleted or something? Someone said that if i reduce the levels of the spells and heroes, then the loading times would go much faster... they didnt =( |

That was a pre- latest patch bug. They fixed it. |
