Creating difficulty levels to reduce lag and map size

I am looking to make my creeps stronger according to the level of the user. I want to be able to move a corpse to a hidden location, resurrect it, strengthen it to the desired level, and then reuse the creep in the game. I don't want to have to make 4 gazillion units just so i can make the creeps you fight during the game seem stronger. It make s the map much larger and since you can't ever actually clear the units from memory, creates lag in the long run.
I have tried setting a really high hp and using hp percentages, but this looks crappy. At the beginning of a game you get creeps that start out with 50 / 10000 hp. Looks a little strange. I am looking for a way to Increase hp as i go without using this method. Anyone have any ideas?
I would also like to increase their armor values. Not the type just the values.
Any Suggestions or Ideas are welcome.

The only way i know to improve max hp of a unit is the tome of health but i am not sure that it work on non-hero unit or use the life artefact (add +100 to max hp)....same for the armor the only way to change it is ever to give the unit an item that boost his defense or make it an hero and adding agility (this way u can also make the monster attack faster as he become stronger.

sorry but in war3 the only unit that grow stronger are hero unit....unless you make a tone of unit and then replace them by the time you want them to improve....

i am not sure that it helps you but unless someone tell me there is another way, i don't see how it can be done without hero or item?

You can use items on non hereo units? that would be perfect.

as for the armor, Well that stinks. I suppose i could just create upgrades that would do it for me, but that will be very tedious. thanks for your help.

If you want to increase the hp of creeps everywhere on the map as players level up, you could change the handicap property of the neutral hostile player. At 100%, the units have normal HP. 200% they have twice normal hp, etc.

y not just make them heros? at the start of the game you can set their custom values to something like 1, that way when they die you can ressurect, subtract 1 from their value and if their value is 0 you can give them 1 levelling tome, though i'm wondering what you could change to prevent them from gaining xp? Also once you give them a tome you could hold what level they are in some integer then just give their custom values that value +1 so that it will take MORE deaths to get stronger and the creeps won't go super powered really quickly. Tell me what you think of that. Also how many creeps do you plan on have in this map? and what type of map *i'm a little curious* because if its a TD that could get boring to see the same creeps.

well i was acutually aiming at having creeps anywhere on the map being at diferent difficulties, according as to what character was fightting them, but it would appear as if this will not happen. Thanks for all your suggestions.

How about having the units you fight against being differnt computer players, when a players starts to fight a creep it gives the creep to the appropriate computer. Then use handicap and upgrades to increase difficulty.

Another possibility is have a bunch of abilitys with the stat increases at the right levels. Then give the creep several abilitys which bonusus add up to the level of the players hero level.

Now thats a great idea! I can use different players and change upgrades around to create the desired levels i need at each point and time. Thanks a million!
