Ominous Horizons Weekly Meetings!

Hey there. I, as my signature says, work for Ominous Horizons (http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/f...s=&forumid=377), and we're doing something interesting to practice voice acting, get people interested in our project, and just for fun. We don't yet know how to use our web space wc3campaigns has given us, so these sound files can't be distributed well as of yet. In the future, we'll have download links.

TiJiL and I put this meeting together by recording lines and sending them to each other. If you would like to hear the whole meeting (~7 minutes long), reply with your email adress, or PM either TiJiL or I. It's quite funny, really. There are two parts, each one about 2.9 MB... sadly it won't let me post.

We'll be doing one each week, probably, perhaps using outside help.

Good news! IronIan has been decent enough to host our file until we can get our server up!

So what is this - an audio file of you two discussing the project? Quite interesting, but possibly a waste of bandwidth to be critical. I once wanted to do an interview the same way, rather than text, to make it much more 'real' (for the net is mostly text).

Yeah, that's pretty critical. We're just having fun here, Magic. The file is really meant more as humor than actual information on the project. We were bored, and someone in our project asked to hear some voice work from us, so we made a meeting using a few characters from our project.

We plan to do one every week to keep some humor in our project and perhaps to gain some support, but we probably won't keep the previous one on the internet, so the only bandwidth waste will be the current one. (TiJiL and I found a good deal on some online space, which we may purchase.)

Ah, I see. Are you using Netmeeting for it? I always found that was the easiest way of doing it (since most computers have Netmeeting).

I'm not sure what netmeeting is, but we're just recording the lines seperately and then sticking them together in the correct order.

Ooooh, I thought you meant it was live. Why don't you try it? Netmeeting is what people use to have 'conferences' (meetings) using webcams. However, you can just talk to each other with a mic too. All you do is dial up the other persons IP (go to Start>run>ipconfig to find it, whilst connected to the net). Then you can talk to one another like a phonecall.
Then have one of you's record it... which may be a problem since you would need the wave channel open to record (line-in is used to record both normally, without going through a mic), unless you just record it in a sound program normally, only then it's a little harsh, but it's the only way and gets the job done I suppose. Hmm.

Edit: By the way, you can see if you have netmeeting by going Start>run>conf (It's not in the Applications menu), or if it's not there try a google.com or microsoft.com search.

Hmm... I do have NetMeeting, it seems. Perhaps we'll see what TiJiL has to say about it.

I say it might be interesting, but I warn against the evils of routers.

Yeah, routers are evil. I suggest I just go to TiJiL's house one day, since his microphone is obviously superior.

Here's an update! Second meeting, all put into one file instead of two.

OHW Meeting Two

Thanx to Iron_Ian for hosting if for us. It's better, longer, and the Goblin sounds better... for a script, just go here!

Enjoy!

EDIT: This one actually has some info on the mod, too. :ggani:

Routers aren't as inherently evil if you know how to maintain one. Just open up the necessary ports in your router control tools. :)

Ahh, but what if once the nessecary ports are open the router refuses to actually open the ports you've told it to open? (Like mine)

Meeting three! Much better sound quality on this one, though it's a bit shorter. Go here for the script, if you have trouble hearing it.
