Does the Warcraft iii campaign editor contain a switch condition? or is there a better way of implementing things switches would be used for?

Could you tell us more clearly what you want?

I didn't understand anything.

If you mean switches like in the good old Starcraft, no not really. Use boolean variables instead.

Sorry about being so vague.

i meant triggers attatched to a number so "if this event occurs turn switch 010 on", then you could use conditions to control what happens much better. Personnally the main reason i wanted them was for a RPG game, it would allow me to use a wide variety of quest items and not take up inventory slots. I can still do that though it will just be less organized and more time consuming.

Use a boolean array, and then you can essentially do that. You can also save the array with a for loop to the game cache, and then load it again in each map of the campaign the same way.

Maybe you also want to check out weaaddars backback testmap which seems to be exactly what you want, and BTW it's great.
