Night Elf Campaign

I need ideas for a night elf campaign that goes along the story line of the Warcraft Series. If you would like to help I only need mappers and skinners. If you have any ideas or want to help me make the campaign post to this thread or email me at [email protected].

I'll help you out, if you'll let me. While I'm good at Terrain as far as mapping goes, I'm still getting the hang of triggers. However, I am also a drama major, and so I know a lot about plot structure and character development, and I think I have some pretty good ideas for unique and fun missions. Lets get down to business. What are your ideas for your missions? Please reply with anything new you got. If you do I will give out the new ideas I have (If they aren't simmilar). Thanks.

Well, to start with, I think the main hero should be a Demon Hunter, since Illidan was in only one mission, and so fans would get more of a kick out of it. As for plot ideas, I have plenty. I'll list a few:

PREQUEL SETTING - Set the campaign during the original war against the Leigon. The Demon Hunter could be fighting to gain new allies in a reigon of the world of Warcraft that has since sunk into the ocean. So the missions would revolve around recruiting Dryads, Keepers of the Grove, Dragons, and the like, in an attempt to turn back the Demons. The subplot could deal with how the other Night Elves treat one who uses Demonic powers, and so on.

FLEEING FROM CORRUPTION - A very old and powerful Ancient is being threatened by the corruption of the Leigon. The Demon Hunter, exiled from Night Elf society, discovers that the grove where the tree resides is quickly being overrun by Satyrs, demons, and the Undead. He takes it upon himself to resist the encroaching evil and escort the tree to the safety of Night Elf territory, even if it means being imprisoned or killed by his own people.

A FIGHT ON ALL SIDES - The Demon Hunter starts off fighting a private war against the Orcs and the Humans, and eventually the alliance they form. However, as the Leigon arrives, the Demon Hunter joins up with the Humans and Orcs, but it becomes clear that there is a pawn of the demons within the Human ranks who is attempting to create dissent between the two factions. The Demon Hunter must purge this element from the Human ranks and unite their forces in an attempt to stop the Leigon.

There are numerous good mission ideas that go with this, but I'll be sure to post them later when I have a long enough list. Do any of these ideas appeal to you?

I like the prequil Idea best, I think the demon hunter should probably be Ilidan if we can fit it. and 4freefile, I got your PM, and sure I'll help, I have some plot Ideas my self. I'm not too good with terrain, and I haven't got much experience with the trigger editor, although I was pretty well versed with the starcraft triggers. also, I know to a point how to skin, I'm not great, but for many of my Ideas, all that is require is some recolor (changing the skin and hair color of high elves)

If we did this, I wouldn't want to use Illidan. Using existing characters is a bad idea IMHO. We should start with a clean slate. So, I'm thinking fresh characters in a setting we haven't seen before. As for the details of the plot, we can work those out.

I think that we start the campaign with the BL coming to Kalimdor. Then we have a main hero and Cenarius destroy the BL. We should have Cenarius in to help support the story line. Then we could have Cenarius keep in Kalimdor while the main hero goes into the protal (or however the BL gets into Kalimdor). One thing I don't want is repetition with Warcraft 2 EXP so the storyline has to have difference with the EXP.

if we are going to not include any current blizzard characters in the camapaign, then it will be very difficult to stay true to the story if we do something about the first invasion of the legion, as Furion, Ilidan, and Tyrande played a HUGE role in that.

Then what shall we do. We could maybee have those characters but use them as none playable. We could have the main hero go into the portal then destroy the BL but let Prophet out who has been trapped by the BL for years. Would that work. Then the prophet would open the portal to the orcs and set them out to Azeroth. Any Comments???

Can any of you do triggers? I know a little about them but would like to learn. All I do is play around with it not knowing how to do it. If you do then please tell me. Thanks.

I was good with triggers in starcraft, haven't really tried much in war3.

I think we should keep true to the storyline as much as we can, and I'm pretty sure noone followed the burning legion back to where they came from after the first invasion, nor do I think they could have. it might be a possibility closer to the current time though.

I made a story theme and a title for our Night Elf Campaign. Please I am open to comments.


Title: Reign of Terror

Storyline:

When the first invasion of Kalimdor became to be, the Demon Hunter (DH Name) was wondering what he could be doing. He asked Cenarius and he said that he had to go and release Kalimdor from these invaders. He went to the Prophet Medivh. Medivh told (DH Name) that he sould go into the Enchated Forest and get the Fire Stone. This stone would be used to destroy the Dark Portal used by the Burnig Legion. (DH Name) found the Fire Stone in the Enchanted Forest and went back to the Prophet Medivh. But when (DH Name) got back Medivh was gone. (DH Name) went to Cenarius and asked him what happened. Cenarius said that the Burning Legion has attacked Kalmidor and took Medivh into the Dark Portal. Then they put a force around the portal so they couldn't get through. When (DH Name) went to the Dark Portal, the Fire Stone started to glow. He stepped through the Dark Portal. He rescues Medivh and asked him what to do. Medivh said totake the Fire Stone and crush it at the Blood Alter in the Dark Portal. Medivh said it was gaurded by huge giants and Demons. Cenarius, Furion, Tyrande, Ilidan and (DH Name) went through the Dark Portal, killing Demons and Giants on the way. They got to the Blood Alter and smashed the Fire Stone. The whole place started to fall apart. Cenarius and Furion made a portal back to Kalimdor. They finally destroyed the Dark Portal. Medivh however, was not to be found. Some say he moved east.

There are a few problems with that story. Firstly, Medivh wasn't alive then. Secondly, I still hate the idea of using existing characters, since I wouldn't want to presume to tell their story. If we could use a different Demon Hunter and deal with a smaller chunk of the Warcraft universe, I think we'd do better in the eyes of canon freaks, like myself.

if your basing along the lines of the existing characters history don't make it farfetched.. Illidan was a traitor among the NE .. also he was a mage not a demon hunter.. Medivh doesn't exist yet.. creating galactic portals are out of their powers.. Cenarius only joined the fight near the end.. according to your story he was there from the start..
i've noticed that you used dh and Illidan in one sentence so i guess you kinda knew that

another thing.. and no offence but your title sucks... its like a movies name not something related to ne at all
