Not one of your better works.
-His skin just doesn't look right, too much fluctuation in the tone
-The armor is well shaded but looks unreal because of poor lay out and strange colors.

Good job.. I like the feel of it.. if that means anything. But some areas look too cluttered.. These mainly being the Chest, Shoulder Pads, Belt and Boot area. The armor looks cool, but it seems to be fractured and in so many pieces that you cannot see what is really a well done armor texture..

Well, I'd agree that it's not the best you've done.. But it is still pretty well done. The actual skin which you posted in the above post looks well done.. It's just the Paladins Unwrap doesn't do it justice.

I give it a 4/5 :D

Edit: Oh yes, and the face doesn't look quite right I'm not sure hwo to explain, but it has something about it that also makes the skin not quite as good.

It is very sloppy. The shading is off light seems to be coming from random directions. You need to smooth it out and sharpen the detail a lot. A lot of the lines seems sloppy and not straight.

I think I've figured out what I don't like about it: It's too brightly highlighted in a lot of places, large spots of white or almost white on top of areas not that white. Besides they spots aren't really uniform, giving a strong impression that the surface is equally rough and uneven. Also, you have lots of thin, sharp lines marking edges and stuff. They really stand out, making the skin look hand-drawn in a bad sense of the word. The concept I really like, apparently unlike other people, but I think you should redo... well, lots of it, to be honest. I suggest you put it side by side to the original Uther skin and see how they've done the shading to make the armor look rounded, the borders between overlapping armor plates, self-shadowing and stuff like that, it's enlightning even for me to study :) For example, if you look how they shaded the face and highlighted Uther's cheekbones you immediately see why your character's face look kinda sunken in.

Oh, and I suggest finding some other way to make chain mail, that doesn't really look good. I just realised the plate armor might be improved simple through really heavy bluring and some slight, uniform darkening... I'd stay FAR away for dodge/burn at this stage, the model is already too saturated.

In essence, cool idea and outline but it needs some more work and attention to detail.

BTW, great kodus on your willingness to post the actual skin, much more interesting and rewarding to examine it that way. Way to many people are worried about it getting "stolen", for no reason IMO. What's the worst thing that could happen, some n00b claims it as his own work to feel good about himself for a change? :) Less selfishness = more friendly and interesting community.
