READ THIS, ITS NOT TOO TOO LONG, AND ITS VERY INTERESTING.

OK me and a friend are deciding on a map to make about LOTR. And i came across the idea of doing something after return of the king. i know there isnt a lot out there about it so i cant really stick to a thight plot like the other games about LOTR. Our idea was to make a game where as saurons tower was falling and all that was happening he created one last OBJECT (we need suggestions the object) of power. Its power is greater than the one ring was.

ok here is where we need suggestions. You can either post your own idea or change this one.

Aragorns son is out one day with a friend and they see an orc or what they think looks like an orc. they follow it far and into a (forest, cave, mountains, or something) and then something happens like they get lost and they find that OBJECT. they dont know what it is. then some how again they figure out what it is. if aragorn doesnt have his son for 1000 or more years then there can be some righting about that OBJECT. i dont think that is going to be so. but any way. they find that OBJECT and then they have to deal with it. I NEED SUGGESTIONS/ FEEDBACK ON THIS IDEA.

this is open to every ones thoughts. just please post any thoughts u have about this.... u can add on to the idea too.

As I said on the other thread for this:

I think it's a good idea. It'll (hopefully) rise above the sea of monotony that is the LOTR world within WC3.

I think the OBJECT should be a weapon of some sort, like Sauron's mace, or his wicked-looking helmet from the first war. It should gain all this power because Sauron linked it to the One Ring, so that should the One Ring be destroyed, he'd have the mace. Since the mace was already magical, the combined power was amplified, making it excessively powerful. Or, Sauron's soul was trapped within it when the Ring was destroyed. Something like that.

They could always find out what it is simply through the kid's heritage. I mean, surely Aragorn would have described Sauron to his kids, so his mace would be recognized by them, if it's thought about.

Anyhow, I hope you follow through with this, it sounds interesting.

They already said what happens after Rotk in the tolkien dictionary. Gondor fights with the easterlings and harad for a while, until they are finally forced to make peace with eachother.

Actually lots of people do know that this happens. Alot of the people that play warcraft are LOTR fans. Im not stopping you though, if you want to do this, go right ahead. Just telling you what really happens.

Sounds awesome :D
I agree with the mace idea. Maybe it would give them Sauron's power, but it would so quickly overwhelm them, and they would become corrupt if possessing it for mebbe half the time of the One Ring.

If you need a concepter/doodader, I would love to help.

let me guess, you watched the movies?..

Sauron is somewhat powerless without the ring.

the movies ended... only by continuing like the "MATRIX" would totally ruin the story....and i'm sure many would wanna continue loving LOTR....

I don't see how continuing the saga would make people stop loving LOTR.

Okay guys, prepare...

This is a bad idea. First off, you're causing Tolkien to whirlwind in his final resting place with the mere mention of something that will continue his legacy, which is the pinnacle of literacy, something you and no one else on this earth will ever accomplish in 1000 lifetimes.

The idea is stupid. Sauron's reign ended when the Ring was cast into the fire. Plus, your idea sounds like the beginning on a Pokemon episode, or a really shitty movie about kids that try and save the world. Maybe everyone should quit worrying about LOTR and stick to reading the books, which I know even you, Peon, are capable of.

So enough with LOTR campaigns. Tolkien did not make his stories for visual representation, just ask Chris. You could never truely capture the essence of Tolkien and make a fun campaign, especially with the combat heavy Warcraft3 engine. So, treat Tolkien's work like comic books, and don't try and make them games.

i feel sorry for peon's parents. Go read the books, theyre only like 1000 pages combined... the best 1000 pages you've EVER read. I've actually read better fantasy but thats a WHOLE diff story ;)

READ! Movies = Not even CLOSE to the book, and crap imho. READ!

the biggest givaway that he was a lotr-noob is that he said "sauron's tower" instead of Barad' Dur (hehe its said that way, i mispelled it, havent read lotr since like 5 years ago...)

Yes, the books are completely different. Until you read them, you do miss out on about a third of the story. They didn't even have Tom Bombadil in the movies.

By wanting to make this, I was not questioning Tolkien's superior godly writing and fantasy skillz. I think of this as a tribute.
