I have about four .txt files and one .slk file that I'm importing into my map. When I load the game up all the changes in the .txt files are there. The problem is the .slk file. In the .slk I've changed spell information in AbilityData.slk (ex: The mana cost of Invisibility and the Creep Sleep spells), imported the file to my map, but none of the changes are there. While all of my .txts work fine. For some reason it's not seeing the .slk. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Again, all of my .txt file changes are there, just not the .slk changes. Thanks in advance. |

That is a known problem in WarCraft3. It only loads the slk files when it starts up, and not when it loads a map. The only way to get a modified slk to work is to insert it in the war3,mpq or the war3patch.mpq. If you do that, everybody will need the modified mpq to play, and it wont download it across battle.net. Also, the mpq changes would apply to any other map you played and would cause desync problems if your are the only one that has the modified file. |

Ok, thank you. I'll swiftly copy my War3patch.mpq and switch them when ever I'm going to play this level. This was really annoying me. Again, thank you. |

Guest | Hi guys, i'm new to this stuf. I tried opening war3patch.mpq and then opened one of the .slk files in Excel. I make a change, then i want to save it, but Excel asks me about format...and when i say YES, then the file is corrupted. Then the .MPQ is corrupted. How do you safely modify .SLK files and save them properly to re-insert them in .MPQ files? Thanks! |

Actually, if you use a preload trigger, you can load the ability.slk file. But after playing the map if you join another game that doesn't preload it, you'll get a desync. This was discovered from experiments with Cookie -- for more info talk to him. |
