Good Map Idea?

Ok I while I was bored I came up with a great map idea (or so I think), and I was just wondering if you like it (yes you the people), although I'm to busy to work on it at the current moment.

Evolution: The Test of Time

You and your allies have been sent back to time to prove yourselves you must compete with evolution and the other three tribes! There are three stages of evolution. You will begin in the years of Cavemen. You will possess one cave man or women (randomly selected), you will first need to restart the population, then hunt for your tribe or watch them die, and your children will slowly grow until they are useful. You can then develop weapons including (in order of receiving) Sharp Stone, Blunt Club, Axe, Wooden Spear, Rock Head Spear, and at anytime you could use tusks, teeth, and stuff that drops off your prey. You would hunt normal Cavemen food pigs, sheep, bears, etc... Then once your Colony consists of 12 Cavemen / Women, and you have all the weapons, and latest buildings (only get a cave for this period), and latest armory (only get furs off your food). You would evolve to the next age.

-Congratulations you've evolved to the next Stage!-
Unfortunately the cavemen couldn't survive Evolution, so they have all died, but you've received a Cro-Magnum Man. The Cavemen died from the winter, and if you don't evolve so will you!

You may now create; new homes made from straw and mud, or make a stone home. You may now tailor Raw-hide leathers (leather, but not so good looking), and you may now get FIRE! To get fire you must create an axe, chop down a tree for wood, then when the lightning storm comes set out your wood, when it catches fire bring it to your previous cave him and drop it into the "fire pit". Inventing fire will prevent you from becoming extinct like the cavemen, if you keep your colony in the heated cave. In this age you also receive Improved Weaponry (upgrades of the old weapons)

-Congratulations you've made if to the Final Stage!-
The Cro-magnum men died from disease in lack of bathing, but no fear you have now received Footmen from the middle Ages. You can now build improved houses, castles, swords, axes, shield, chain mail, eventually plat email. Fear time is running out for evolution! You will receive 30 Minutes; if you have not destroyed your enemies then evolution shall cause the victor to be chosen, in a battle to the death.

Now you win or lose in the duel. It would have cool effects, triggers, and the whole nine yards. Caves would be entered and have the ceiling effect which was discovered. It would be more depth and detail added, however this current map is NOT IN DEVLOPEMENT! And may never be, unless someone wants to try and make it happen. If you want to try and create this map please message me first :)

Sounds pretty good. I would gladly help on such a project. I can trigger, terrian, do some object editing, and icons. If you want to see some past work , wait until the TD im helping with releases a BETA or ALPHA, I terrianed (limited- its a TD) and triggered and made some of the abilities (the trigger based ones and the building ones). I just suck at balancing.

No one balances well, balancing is just a long hard process. Nobody can name one 100% balanced game unless every player and every item is the same. Giving no factor an advantage, at which point there is no point to play. That game is called pong.

If more people get interested in it, maybe it will become a map the community will create. I though it was a good idea thanks for giving feedback. Anyhow for the record Cro-magnum men did exist (i'm not sure i spelt it right though). I might also add another stage of evolution before medival times, like more of the "indian theme", or a stage before it. Cro-magnum men to medi-eval times seems like to big a jump.

What I mean is picking damage/health/etc AT ALL. I mean Ive spent say 10 tests balancing 2 units, than one completly slaughtes the other, even though I think they should be equal. Im a horribel judge at that :(

How is it Age of Empires rip off? Please explain this to me? Age of Empires is a RTS (Real Time Strategy) While in this game you're not building a town, getting graneries etc.., but exploring new land discovering new tools and in those terms evolving. I know that in Age of Empires the time peroid changes, but you don't start off as cavemen. And you don't have children the buildings do :-P. As you can see they greatly vary....

I Am Develloping for 3 weeks this exact type of map....0_o

but it is slightly different and yours look pretty cool if u need help i will gladly help you.

i know age of empire, and my map is more devellop and fight and evolve in age to get better unit....i haven't completed my map yet need more time 1 or 2 week....

but your map is different because you need to survive, it is a kind of trial but with more things than mine (tooth, fur, lot of tool weapon and research.

my map has 5 age:
Dark age must hunt for food
Farming Age must use field to raise corn, build farm to raise animals
Mining age mine stone,iron,gold,mithril, make alliage and forge weapon
Trading age can make siege weapon, advanced building, exchange ressource( gold for wood or stone)
Mystic Age can use magic, workship a God, win the game if raise his god back to life (lot of ressource needed)

i can give you idea help whatever i think ur project is very interesting...:gsmile:

-great Farming system with water and growth for plant
-animal drop: wolf Fur, bear fur, hard skin, smooth skin, snake venom, wool.
-destroy stone or mine ore: get stone, iron ore, gold ore, mithril ore.
-firework: mix ore to create silver bar, gold bar, platinium bar, steel bar, adamantium bar, mithril bar.
-forge: mix an alliage bar with a weapon shape to get a short sword, saber, long blade, armor... axe... bow...
-armor: increase defense and life
-mix plant and herb: to create lot of potions about 45 type with 5 level of potent (weak to very potent) ex: healing potion (heal 5 hp weak to 20 hp potent)
-ressource: food, wood, gold, stone.
-weather: evolving weather system
-great monster respawn (grater system)
and more.....

Sounds good most people that replied like it and are willing to help this map MAY go into DEVOLEPMENT!

that sound like an awesome idea. You could do some more with the stages of evolution tho.
It doesnt have o be a physical evolution, but maybe cultural. Have them discover their own religion etc. I am trying to make something of this map, except a rts. well, best of luck to ya! (I'd play it)

Damnit same with me, i'm in the finishing stages of something like this as well. I have it start with just a town thingy and a couple villagers, you gotta hunt animals and chop wood to get better stuff (rocks, copper/iron axes, spears, and a lot more) and to advance though the ages. You can pick from 2 paths which you end up either farming for food, or herding animals and stragically slaughtering what you need. I'll also try to give you any help if you need it. Balancing is really tough though i'll agree to that, today i just finnally thought there was no unit too powerful, then suddenly in one of the tests it turns out that massing this one unit its a lot more effective than it seems. The one big thing i've found out about balancing is if you got a map that is primarily melee units with a handful of ranged units, you gotta put in some little catches like fast melee units and min range on the ranged units or the ranged units will always win out, just because they can get off like 6 shots while the melee unit is moving in to attack.

I beleive empire earth is more of the futuristic theme, rather then back in time. Well anyhow i though of it originally, but then again almost all thoughts have be thoughten. if that makes any sense :)

i think this game would be fun to play untill u beat it. and it might be very challenging just to get pasted the first stage and then the next is easy and the third is impposible. or the other way around. so if u make this make sure each stage is equally difficult. or else one of the stages will be boring or hated.

also maps that are on warcraft usually have unlimited possiblitys like td or lotrs battles, or other games like those that dont really have a long plot. i relize that people will play this game but it wont be played much unless there are lots and lots of many possibiliys. not just like lots of things to get. but things to do that are fun is what makes games good. im not saying that this will be a no fun game because i havent seen it. im just kinda letting every one know that games are hard to make. im not saying you cant do it. in fact if i get more free time i just might want to help.:D

all and all it sound like a good game but there is room for improvement on the plot, it might be better if it is like age of empires, or something like that were u progress in the evolution time line.
