Complete Warcraft 2 conversion!

Thats right. I was playing war 2 the other day and the controls are horrible. What if we got a team of people to make a COMPLETE single player war 2 conversion. It would take a fair amount of time. People who knew cinematics to remake all the war2 ones, Have all the war2 music, same voices, dame damage. Pretty much the same game but just in War3. All the same units exist. I know this is a VERY ambitious project but I am willing to provide website hosting for it as well forums, voice overs, organization etc. :dance:

Who we still need:
-----------------------
-Map makers (obvious, I can even do this.)

-People who know triggers ( they arent complex...this is friggin war2.)

-Sound people (get every war2 sound and music for the move to war 3.

-Cinematic people ( to recreate the war2 cinematics )

-Skinners ( for heros like zuljin etc. it would be cool to have them look different)

-Tab Artists ( for spell buttons. We can take these directly from war 2, or update them. I havent decided yet.)

-MPQ Rippers. ( we might need you to get war2sounds out this way/.. I dont know how the war2 editor works much.)

-Unit/spell Makers ( I can figure this out but others would be helpful.)

All people interested post what position you are and your experience in war3 mapmaking. You MUST have war2 bnet ed AND war2 xpansion AND Wc3 TFT along with dedication and a passion for War2.


I am the project manager and we are workinig on getting a site off the ground for this project.

NOTE: We alrready have some kickass triggerloards....we really need skinners/sound people/ mpq rippers.

Put some more effort to your maps they´re too simple .Why dont you try to make the same story and the same goals of Wc2 but, change the terrain, maybe add some new obtional quests,etc.

The maps are like that in WC2. Im trying to keep it as true to the original as possible. Ther are other things in this level. Like little tents where the random units are. The first level doesnt allow for much extra stuff.

In my case i think it´s borring to play the same map...I can even remembar the Wc2 maps...What about scouting and searching...???

First off its only the FIRST MAP. The first map in wc2 and SC were boring as hell. It sthe standard build a barracks and 4 farms mission. The maps later on are ALOT more in depth and have alot more things.

Plus I think the simplicity of warcraft2 is part of its appeal. If this woks out after we finish we may ge back and do a multiplayer component for it.

sounds like a good idea. i tried to make one with just the editor a while ago. i wouldn't really like it(i hate WC2), but there's a lotta people out there who would find it cool.

Yes, they are hosting a project,
but this team is working on wc1 right now.

I tried to do a Wc2 project some time ago.
Hehe. We had 3 (very good) levels, some skills, a working oil system
and 3 unskinned models *ugh*

Maybe you can do something with this link

(I want this TC, but I am too lazy :P )

just a comment, the Frozen throne rpg orc campaign has some of the music from wc2, in case you didn't know

yes yes.. but ours WILL be better. How? you ask, well we may get an incredible modeler who can recreate all the original buildings including the cool orc fortress! ^___^ We are also skinning and are recreating the manual online along with a host of toher features. We will have the same unit sounds, speeds, etc. All maps are replicas and they are also enhanced to look purdy. We will skin and remodel all units that need it. We wont be skimping out on anyone.

Realm Design seems to be doing a pretty good job.. I mean, granted they're working more than 99% on WC1, but they'll eventually get around to making WC2 conversions an' stuff.. no offence meant. z.z;

Well duh. He's just using WE to make it. How can you program in an ENTIRE RESOURCE that way?

Any conversion of an older game that tries to make it exactly the same is missing the point of modding. An exact WC1 conversion would be stupid - WC1 has some very annoying parts (e.g. One levelled terrain), but that was because of capabilities of the makers when they made it. Additions such as upkeep and creeps have improved and altered the gameplay for a good reason and sign of progress.
