Guest | Just a poll so I can get a solid idea of what people here think is cool! |

Guest | Alright, nice votes! Seems everyone is voting for what I was most interested in too! I just want to get a general idea on something I can work on in my free time off the FPS-mod |

Guest | either my NooBie idea which im thinking to develop (been on and WAY off for a LONNNG time) oR: i had this idea after looking at yu-gioh fans and stuff for a while. playing tcg's myself, i thought: What about a card-dueling game? You could have a simple story. I have a complete outline if you want it, but its basically that names are taken from old latin words and that you are a modern day player who aspires to be the best. Dueling Aspirations: -Play in local, regional, country, continental, and world arena's -Select and create your unique deck from a list of tons of cards including secrets -Chat up NPC's etc. in many subquests -Play using your unique deck and a multitude of strategies -Become the world's greatest duelist. Basically the idea would be simple. Make a f-load of custom units, each one representing a card. Everytime you get a card, have it stored in your space. You can move the cards in the "box" to your deck and side deck, but only say (20, 30, 40) and (5,10,15) in your deck/sidedeck. When you draw a card, you randomly pick from these boxes, and inbetween games you can move cards from your side deck to your deck. It would be an interesting twist on the RPG thing; fighting with cards. You could have unique cards, restricted, limited (only 1/2 allowed in deck) and other rarity values. You could buy different booster packs and starter sets to get more cards, play against others to win or lose money, enter tournaments, and even explore. There would also be the 7 (millenium puzzle pieces for you yugioh fans) segni to get. Each one would have an inherent bonus; ie. look at the second card of an opponents hand, start with more life, attk with more power, extra slot for monster, extra slot for m&T, more defense power, and allow and extra card in hand. If a proper card game was properly thought up and executed, the units would work themselves; ie. not as many triggers, only a few for each card. If some sort of array or variable or something im not familiar with was used maybe the masses of trigs could also be dropped. It might be interesting to try. If you want my take on the type of game etc, give me a ring at [email protected]. I could also help u if you want but i dont do JASS. |

I hear you ZZzz. The main problem isn't really thinking of a new idea, but thinking of a new idea AND somethign people will like. |

Yeah, it sucks to think up a semi-original idea, spend a few weeks implementing it, and find out its not that much fun. That has happened to me quite a few times. I've made way too many maps that during alpha/beta testing everybody says the concept/theme of the map just isnt fun =-( too much time of my life wasted. Nobody likes maps that aren't 100% centered on heroes, and all my semi-original ideas are to get away from the "pick a hero and fight creeps/enemy team/whatever" =-( |

I think a new map idea would be cool. I guess one way to be succesful is to make a map that people have some reason to be attracted to. For example, base it on a popular game like Final Fantasy and people will be more likely to try it. Once you have something to "hook" some players just make it a quality map that people will be likely to play over and over. I'd personally like maps with totally new ideas without just being a lame RPG based on a Final Fantasy game, but I don't think those kinds of games will become as popular on battle.net. Well since I'm already on the subject I'll go ahead and mention one idea I'm working with. I've been considering making a "Blitzball" game based on blitzball from FF10. I don't really feel like going over the details right now but it's going to be like in the PS2 game with stats, techs, and encounters like in the game where you get time to choose what actions you will take. So basically it's not just a SCV football clone or anything. The name will encourage people to try it and if I do it right then hopefully the gameplay will keep them hooked on it. :) |

A blitzball map, now THAT's a freaking awesome idea :) Anyone else ever thought of making a Mario Party map? I started one for StarCraft a looong time ago and never completed it :-/ |

Somebody made 2 different Mario Party maps on StarCraft before. I think it was Nanaki_XIII or something like that. Perhaps someone whould make a WarCraft 3 version. You could remake some of the classic StarCraft minigames and make new minigames with more advanced triggers Well this is something else to add to my large list of map ideas that I will probably never get around to doing. If only I had more time and more patience :bgrun: |

Guest | I really really wanted the old Cats & Mice game from StarCraft, it's so much fun playing with other peoples, very funny, and it proved to be very popular on StarCraft, sometimes there are 7 full games about that map, and some others still waiting for ppls, man, tricking cats was fun, ambushing a just revived mouse was even funner ( Prison guard, yaaay ) :ggani: |

Wow that Idea on your poll about a melee you can order around sounds familair for some reason. I wonder why, Interesting that the AI seems low on everyone's list. Well anyways we might be starting an AI Forum soon. We'll see. |

DKslayer, what I had in mind really was focus on building things with the AI, like make him pop towers in your expansion, order him to create siege or anti-air, get him to mass, or get him to get a few heavy melee, ect. Anyways, I wasn't even sure if that other AI project was even alive. :ggani: |

Guest | too bad we have to accept what most of UMS battle.net truly is: a mob of 8 year old "illeteriates" that crave constant clicking and maps such as madnesses, etc. that serve no real thinking to them. I thought of my yugi-oh game type thing cuz i thought it might be good cuz of the hook of yugioh which i think is popular among those 8 yr olds but then i thought, whoops, too much thinking in the deck building, cant have that can we. which leads to a final point: mapmakers are coming few and far between with hiquality UMS maps cuz the masses dont give a crap about them. We need a channel where people that are intelligent can come to and play HIQUALITY ums maps. oh yea. y dont we set something up like that? Maybe then we can get some good ums flowin. |
