I thought my music was .wav so I tried to convert it using the mp3 tutorial given, but then audacity wouldn't recognize the file format, and I checked and it was WMA, how would I convert wma? I really REALLY wanna know cuz I have like 15 really awesome tracks that would fit well with warcraft, most of which are from various video games |

I HAVE THAT SAME PROBLEM! I have that problem but I found a program to make my wave files 30 times smaller in size and still same sound :) |

I guess... well, now I found a converter... but when I converted it, even tho it's not that long, it's a 5500-6000 kb or so mp3!!! HOW DO I GET THE IMMENSE SIZE DOWN!? |

I have tons of songs I want to use but the one I really wanna use somehow blew up to nearly 6000 for god's sake... 6mb... 30% of that is still huge for a Wc3 game... I think you can't host like that. Also I'm wondering how it got so big... I even sit low bitrates and all that! Someone said that convertying to mp3 made SMALLER files but these are 2-6 times normal size!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

actually i think dietMP3 can get it as low as 10% and still retain fairly good quality just try it and see how it is. |

Alright let me try to explain that OneWingedAngel. It is easy, a *.wav file is raw uncompressed data. An mp3 is compressed. But here is your dilemma, you didn't start with *.wav, you started with *.wma (Windows Media Audio). Wich is already compressed. What is suggested is you reduce the quality, but indeed it will not be bnet hostable. There is a reason you barely hear new music in bnet maps, this is it. Recommended settings: 22.5khz mono 16 bit. Though it will only shrink you by about 50% I think. EDIT: Btw you guys keep saying "this program can do ths and mp3diet can do this blabla". The mp3 compression rates are the same for EVERY program IF you set em on the same settings. So really don't be saying "But mp3diet does better!" Just mention what settings you put mp3diet at to recieve that size. |

OOH OOH I CAN I CAN! I HAVE A PROGRAM THAT DOES IT FOR YOU! IF U WANT IT I'LL ATTATCH THE INSTALL FILE IF I CAN FIND IT! i would attatch it... but this forum thingie won't let me.... ya very gay... well u just need to go to www.downloads.com and search for dBpowerAMP Music Converter ya if u get an error go to the website it tells you to, follow the instructions, and it will work just fine and dandy! hope i was of some help! OR! YOU CAN JUST ATTATCH THE MUSIC U WANT TO CONVERT TO A REPLY AND I"LL CONVERT IT FOR U! IF U WANT! i have posted that before but i will yet again post it for those of you who don't look... it will work... i think... i'm not sure, but even if it doesn't it's a great program to use for converting files rather than using the sound record system that is built into windows... ya that's pretty lame and it's all ghetto and f's up almost everytime. use that ^^^ |
