basically, i can't get bones to show up in the mdl file, nor do attachment points work in game, i'm using max 5 with the art tools. i thought i followed the instructions correctly but apparently not. i have a model file with a bone skeleton attached, in the user defined properties, "bones" is marked true attached is a picture of the user defined properties for both the skeleton, and the mesh. Left is the Skeleton. Right is the mesh. can someone please tell me what's wrong... |

k, well i duno how you do it, but the way i do it works just fine. I make regular regtangles and just simplely change there property to bones. seems to work no problem as i have exported a few models allready 100% animated. the atachment point issue seems to be a common issue for 3ds max 5 as i have yet to have any problems with it using 4... my best advice is to deal without attachment points for now. |

ah, thanks, i just pm'ed you about this about 5 seconds ago, unfortunately we can't deal without attachment points because thei're absolutely vital to the project, without them the mod would be worthless, but we were able to get them to work by editing the mdl, all we couldn't get were the bones |

Nothing wrong with the user properties. Make sure everything is unhidden during export, otherwise you got one mysterious problem. |

attachment pointers...well cant figure out why it doesnt work for you in max5 (works for me). its just a bone or a mesh (I use mesh boxes) with the user properties flagged as attachment points with the names like: Overhead Ref Hand Left Ref Be certain not to flag Attachment type (or something) in the attachment section SoundEvent emitters are just point helpers with a note track Splash event emitters same but then with emitter tagged on |
