Ok, seeing how I'm unable to post a @#$%ing post in the project recruitment forum, I'll post it here. Flat out said, Project Revolution is dead. I'm here to take a new step forward, one away from the easily distracted workers of project revolution and into one where there is a dedicated team, where fans will not sit for half a year wondering "wtf happened to these guys?" I bring to you, Project Total Conversion Star Craft! Total Conversion Star Craft needs more team members to complete is goal, though. This is where you could come in. We need modellers and skinners in order to further our goal, seeing how I am completely incapable of modelling myself. Though I have "extracted" (I believe that is the more polite term) some Star Craft models myself, it is not nearly enough. So I ask all thee loyal fans of Star Craft, come forth! Join Project TCSC and let our craving for a Warcraft conversion of Star Craft be fed! |

Riiiiight, well ok, I don't think Project Revolution is dead, I think it's just taking a really bloody long time, and I think it's pretty arrogant/ignorant of you to declare it dead, when I don't think you're on their team, are you? And what exactly do you mean by ''extracted" some models? You can't extract 3d models from the original starcraft since it's a 2d game. So then the only way that makes sense is if you STOLE them from another project, like say Project Revolution? and if you did take them without permission in some way which I have no idea how you would've pulled it off. But if you DID then you've probably just made quite a few enemies, I personally really frown on stealing and it pisses me off, unless they gave it to you with permission, which I find hard to believe. And thirdly, I suggest you don't try making a new starcraft, instead make up your own sci fi map, maybe without too many units. OR if you have no imagination, just join Project Revolution and help them. However if they read your post I doubt they'd be very impressed by you. But incase you do have permission or whatever, then I'll just say I'm a fair-minded person, but it sounds like, and this is just my impression of you, it sounds like you haven't really thought this through. I also in no way represent Project Revolution but I do have my own ethics and I'd suggest you don't steal from anyone, ok? And finally, well, I usually say goodluck to people...but I really don't think it would help in your case. |

Yes it is, even the forums section has been locked down and there hasn't been any word from them. By the way, this topic is for if you want to join not if you want to rant on about some things that are completely off topic. And of course I wouldn't steal from anyone, I would ask permission first and if they allowed it I would use their models (duh). I don't know who you people think I am. I respect a world editor's work and would not change it without permission. I've already got a pretty good start on the project, I'm just using Razorclaw X's methood of modifying sound sets to make the units sound normal without the painful methoods of unit sound triggers. (To the guy above me) Ah yes, your map is the one I made a comment to. I suggest that we team seeing how you know how to make the models and some animations, but thats about it. I can do triggers, sound sets, custom unit configuring (I noticed you have your SCV's resource animations backwards), and overall unit tech creation. Not only that, but I can spell. |

I don't think I was ranting off topic, I think I was giving you good advice. What did I say? I said you shouldn't declare a project dead if you're not apart of it. I don't think that's off topic since you did bring that up. Secondly I touched on the 'stealing' problem we have, and hey, if you're not stealing them that's great. Although I'm still confused by your 'extracted' comment, where did you extract them from exactly? Thirdly I gave you VERY good advice, to use your imagination, to come up with something new or maybe a twist on starcraft. I'd be happy to help you with your map/mod, as long as it is original. And fourth, well ok I did insult you a little by saying I didn't think you'd succeed, so I take that back. But I do suggest you do think about what you really want in a map before you make it. Sorry if I caused you offense, I don't believe I went off topic though, I think those were important issues to address. Goodluck with your map. |

Hmmmm.... As part of the PR team I would like to respond. While this is not an official response I do have some thoughts. First off Madcat if that is your normal name I have never seen/heard you period. It must be easy to complain or write out as you did and yet never offer us a helping hand. Second and perhaps more importantly PR is far from dead. Yes we have run into issues, Yes it has taken more time than we thought. However this is always true of most programming projects. I have done programming on and off for over 20 years and it never is on time. Third Im not sure where ur going to magically produce 100 or so models , skins, and animations but if you even think of taking from our project youll have serious issues to deal with including possible legal action. Not too mention using our stuff would undermine your credibility. Finally to all those who read this I would like to say that we are doing our best. Remember this is for free we make no money from this. We have over 20 people involved in some shape or form. Quality is as important here as Quantity and JUST getting the project out. We have had many alpha\beta tests that show we are continuing. While we feel confident PR will be in effect Starcraft II we welcome any competition because like all good capitalists we believe in the free market system. Good luck with your project but heed my warning about the model issue. Sincerely, RodOfNOD PR Terrainer, Triggerer and general fixit guy. Edit by: Skizot - Project Revolution Leader That is OFFICAL. |

At the moment, PR makes a new model every week. There's about 100 models, including doodads and portraits. That means it will take us roughly 2 years to complete this thing. Get the picture? This may not be the nicest thing to say in this thread, but I urge any skilled modeller/animator/skinner/coder that is considering contributing to this new SCTC to consider PR instead. The gallery on the forum and IRC are the best places to check the current status. |

HAH, as if... first off, 2 years is rediculous! I mean, I'm making probobly just as good progress within a week than you guys. Next, the forums section is under some kind of lock-down and there hasn't been any recent news since July of last year! Unless you guys moved your site and are having too many hot pocket breaks, this thing isn't going anywhere. TO THE GUY ABOVE THE GUY ABOVE THIS POST: As I said before, I am completely useless in the art of modeling and skinning (though I learn fast), and your site is under some kind of lock-down. I many times tried to offer my services at the forums section but it seemed nobody could post a forum or something because of the lock-down. As besides, I'm pretty sure that because of this post, you guys much rather watch me burn and die rather than open a job offering branch (as would I). You just have to understand that for about 3 years now I have long awaited the Warcraft III graphic/gamplay Starcraft game or mod, but the closest thing I got to it was that pathetic attempt in the map download section. One more thing, how could I possibly take models from your Project? I haven't heard anything about a release but I wouldn't anyways seeing how I'm a pure hater of those whom jack things and post 'em as their own (Project Counter Strike for Starcraft 1998). Well I thank you for your offer Balthamos, but I'm withdrawing project TCSC because of a strange bug. Apparently, the campaign mode I was using to convert the sound sets doesn't want to run the stage so unless anyone knows of a way to fix this then I'll just leave it be. It's too bad though, I managed to recreate the first stage of Starcraft (with the exception of Jim Raynor vulture). |
