WIP: contest entry

heres a WIP for my entry for that LoA contest.

i tried to kinda 'give it a twist' and not to make them look like heros, but really more like a bunch of 'regulair joe' orcs, becouse in LoA you begin as weak as a normal soldier.

MEET THE ORCS OF THARANOR:

but the grunt and especially the spearman's faces look really disfigured to me...

They all look stoned... and the spearman isn't buff enough... it looks like you stuck an orc head on a troll.

i think a good way to show how noobish these warriors are would be to make the armor way too big for them... it looked like you sorta did this, but for example make the grunt's helmet go over his eyes and just make their stuff not fit them very well.... :foot:

yes, that was kinda the point actually... i think they are going to use the headhunter model for the orc hunter, but i'm not sure, just a wild guess, so i made the orc kinda look like a troll.

and i dont think all orcs nesceserally have to be all that buff... no wait... they do have to be buff...

but meh, keep in mind that these are LoA orcs, and not warcraft orcs. theres is a diffrence :D

cant change it anymore, and doing that would make him look too much like a kiddo... i kinda tried to gave him a hey-i'm-2-big-2-b-a-peon-lets-be-a-grunt kinda look :D

(I know you probably got the skillz, but I've been wanting to try cell shading with my wacom... might be a good one to try it on since it has a very nice cartoony look to it.)

disfigured looking guys are just erwtenpeller's drawing style. your pen work is beautiful. your work always looks official. i know you first draw in pen and then make those pen lines(am i wrong?). do you use special prog to make them clean?

and becouse its a contest ebtry, i will color it myself. i'll give em liverspots an alla that, make em look really like... nasty...

and no orin, my i draw in an horribly traditional way...

-first i scetch with pencil
-then i detail with pencil
-then i ink it
-and then i erase the pencil, and ink it again, this time give the sweet effects to the lines.
that last step really brings the picture alive :D

U don't do lineart in comp.?? Oh....

nope.... all traditional :gsmile:

i might try comp linearts once i get me a tablet though, but i doubt if it'd be only half as good.
