I am making a lotr map that includes all 3 books and the hobbit. i dont have a super fast computer so i cant zoom out and make the basic terrain for middle earth. it takes seriously 5 min to change the terrain. so if ur interseted in helping out and making a good terrain of middle earth just tell me. i wil award all 400 points to who evers map i choose. so dont make a map and excpet me to give u 400 points for jsut doing it. this is a contest so the best map i like will get there name in the credits and next to mine and who ever helps make it.

the map size should be no less than 256x256. please feel free and make it a 480x480 or something. u need a program to do that. look in other forums im not sure which one though.. tell me before u start making the map.

So you want someone to do all the work making an epic+ sized map so you can make a crappy Lord of the Rings map? Oh, great. And What do we get? 400 of your worthless Warcraft3 Campaigns points? Hoo boy, people will be LINING up to present their map to you, since you are such a judge of talent.

Both of you shut up before I call a moderator, he's only making a contest and who knows, you might actually benefit from it...

Someone said moderator?
Keep it civil, please, people. That was a bit harsh, Sides, but I've nothing against people being critical. SP seems pretty set on what he's doing so I'd leave it at that. :P

Yes, we are a bit harsh, but he should atleast be able to do SOMETHING for his team... I mean come on, he expects people to do all his work while he sits there and whips em.

Something helpful: People wont even try for 400 points. Get around 1200 and try (people like numbers over 1000 it seems..) Also, reading the books, and proofreading your posts can help.

all i need is the basic outline of middle earth, i dont need half the map done, just like the boarders of the land, and a few major mountain ranges. trust me i would be very happy to do it by my self if i had a computer that would not lag so much and some times crash when i try to do view the whole map.

Whoa! You want someone to try and squeez the entirety of middle earth into one 256x256 map?! That'd only be just big enough for the shire!

Listen up you stupid people (people who would consider terrain)

I'll give you as many points as I can rack up, and that may just be a lot.

Make it atleast 500-1000, plus whatever peon gives, thats ~1500. Be happy and make his terrain for him.

shadowraithe please read all the posts carfully or at least the first one my god. ur question/ comment would have been explained there.

"no less than 256x256"
"make it a 480x480"

see u would have saved time and not wasted it by responding to this topic.

also i dont use all the units at there normal scale i can scale them all down to .5 or less if i want to and set the camera close so it looks decent.

also i didnt post this topic for people to argue and make fun of it. i put this here for the intersted people to respond. and if u have nothing better to do then keep doing what you do then feel free...

You can't fit the entirety of Middle Earth into a single map, or if you did it would have to be so big no one would be able to use it. Why not make a set of maps, each depicting a particular region?

I'm not dissing (not this time anyway), I'm making "constructive criticism". So I don't want to see a "You're-dissing-me so I'm-gonna-feel-sorry-for-myself" post in reply, ok?

And they're right, you need a better prize...

He doesn't want to make a set of maps because he would like this to be playable online. It's actually a pretty decent idea, and if it was done (well) it would be throroughly amazing. If I didn't have other projects I'm working on right now I would do his terrain for him. which is why i'm offering points, or actually basically anything for decent terrain that can later be added to.

256x256 would probably be a better terrain for it than anything else. Up from there and the map size gets very large.

Well, try it if you want, I've had my say on this subject.
