Well, I'm a n00b at terraining, but I at least want to know what I'm doing wrong.

Well for one thing, vary your tiles more. Right now it's just a big piece of dirt. Add rock tiles and stuff to make it seem more filled. It looks empty even with the doodads. You can also try using the raise and lower tools more. And cliffs work well in cave tilesets too.

It might be too late cause I'm nt sure if it changes after you've placed them, but try changing the stalagmite's maximum roll angle, this will prevent the "floating rock" effet that really takes away, and it might have a really nice effect.

Everything, Resize doodads, vary tiles, Use more then 3 kinds of doodads turn sky on for screenshots...and pray.

Resize doodads? Do you mean lower them?
I edited the tiles. I'll post the screenshots later.
there are 5 kinds of doodads on the map :D (I know what you mean)
Look at picture 2. The sky IS on.
