Attack Types vs. Armor Types

Is there any way for me to define which attacks hurt which armors, which armors were resistant, resistance or weakeness they have, etc...? Or does it happen to be one of those hard-coded things we have to live with?

Okay, so I made my own custom damage table and all that works great. The right attacks do the right amount of damage to the right other untis. Then I went and changed the strings, but ran into a problem. For each armor type there were 3 strings that I needed to enter. They were all close, but not the same. For example.
#1 Heavy armor takes extra damage from magic attacks
#2 Heavy armor takes extra damage from peircing attacks and reduces damage done by fortified
(those are actual strings, but you get my drift)
So anyway, I thought that I would just replace all three with the same string to make sure that all of my strings in-game were correct. It only worked halfway though. For some reason the strings would get cut off in mid sentence, and this makes absolutly no sense to me. I hope you guys can help me out, becuase a string like 'Fire attacks do extra damage to water armor, but reduced damage to' sounds n00bish because it just has no end.

I was wondering about this, but how did blizzard use commas without their sentences being chopped up. Believe me, they do use them. Hmmm... oh well, I will take mine out until I can find a solution.

Gah! I hate bugs like that. My sentences sound like I am in 6th grade and haven't learned how to use commas yet. 'Air armor takes reduced damage from Water and Poison and Earth attacks but takes extra damage from Fire attacks.' I hope someone can fix this bug some day.

Try breaking it up a different way?

Water does extra damage to air armor.
Fire does reduced damage to air armor.
Earth does reduced damage to air armor.

(Provided you can figure out how to add a new line)
